Improvement cycles: An never-ending process of repeatedly questioning the work. PDCA cycles.
Customer centricity: Idea of asking “What is good for the customer”.
Waste identification: Eliminate waste. Activity that does not add value
Approaches
Business process re-engineering: Radical redesign to achieve dramatic improvement. Measure performance. Lean, flow, customer-focus etc. all contribute to BPR concept
Total quality management(TQM): Improvement covers the whole organization.
Six Sigma: Deliver products when promised with no defects for customer satisfaction. Eliminate defects by tight design specification. Specification range should be +-6.
Techniques
Input/output analysis, flow chart, scatter diagrams, Pareto diagrams, why-why analysis(5 why’s), cause-effect diagrams: method of helping to search for the root causes of problems.
