What is the BIOS
A
Basic Input/Output System
Initial set of instructions executed by CPU when computer is turned on
- Helps decide which programs to execute and how
- Set up steps
- power on
-self test memory (check if dram/sram exists and check that memory) - look for hard disk/booot sector
- read first item off boot sector which has type of filing system info
