The Opera is intimidating because of their powerful voices, it’s sung in a different language, it is also very loud, and they hold out long notes.

In Opera they sustain, or hold a long note, they also have to hold the suspense of the story.

Opera evolved in different countries. Others developed over time.
Cultivate
Opera singers need special training to cultivate a good singing voice.
Convincingly
In the Opera the actors need to convince the audience they are actually the characters.
Grandeur
The Opera is over the top, or grandeur.
Accessible
The opera is now accessible to people who speak different languages because they have subtitles. They also have cheaper tickets for younger people.
Overture
The musical introduction played by the orchestra that has excerpts of music from the play.
Act
They have usually 1 to 5 acts
Recitative
This type of music is more of the diolage or speaking in the Opera. There is not that many instruments playing.
Chorus
A group of people singing on or off stage.
Duet
2 people singing.
Trio
3 people singing
Aria
Sung by one person that shows the emotion of the character. A lot of instruments are playing.

Text or script of Opera.

Overacting over the top.
Bel Canto
An Italian Opera mainly focused on singing, not the storyline.
Opera Seria
An Italian Opera that is serious.
Opera Buffa
An Italian Opera that is suppose to be funny, and can relate to working class.
Singspiel
A German Opera that is comical, and can have diolage.
Grand Opera
Performed with elaborate sets and costumes. Has royalty, heroism, and elaborate ballet. Created by many people.
Music Drama
Same as Grand Opera, but it is made by one person.
