Every person has a right to freedom from discrimination in the following areas
- Services, goods, facilities
- Housing
- Contracts - (written and oral)
- Employment - (includes discipline , terminations, volunteer duties e.t.c)
- Membership in vocational associations and trade unions
Age prohibited discrimination
18-65 years, employment; 16+ years (housing); 18+ (all other areas)
Ancestry prohibited discrimination
Ancestry - family descent
CItizenship prohibited discrimination
Membership in a state or nation
Colour prohibited discrimination
associated with race
Creed prohibited discrimination
Religion or faith
Disability prohibited discrimination
There are two ways to look at this, a medical condition someone has
Or a disability is something someone does not have. A medical condition does not prevent someone from fully taking part in society.
Ethnic Origin prohibited discrimination
social, cultural or religious practices drawn from a common past
Family status prohibited discrimination
A parent/child relationship
Gender expression prohibited discrimination
the external attributes, behaviour, appearance, dress e.t.c by which people express themselves and through which others perceive that person’s gender.
