Online Bullying: What should you do if you or someone you know is bullied online?
When someone is upset, hurt or angry online, they change their behaviour online or offline. If this happens to your friend, talk to them and a trusted adult. If it happens to you, you should talk to a trusted adult.
If you need to block an abusive user such as a spammer or bot, the platform you are using should enable you to block users.
If you are unable to speak to a parent or teacher, organisations like CEOP or Children can help you.
What does it mean to be ‘sceptical’?
Being sceptical is doubting something until it is proven.
It is important to be sceptical when using the internet or media because of misinformation and disinformation.
A ‘hoax’ is a made up piece of information acting as though it is true.
It doesn’t matter if information is on a large number of sites, it may still be inaccurate or untrue. It could even be illegal.
How can you avoid becoming addicted to tecnology and make healthy decision?
Leave this type of technology use outside of the bedroom.
Report any problem to a trusted adult or an organisation such as CEOP.
What makes a strong password?
Using a phrase or sentence rather than one word. Using a mixture of capitals, lowercase, numbers and special characters.
When is it okay to use content that is not your own?
It depends how you use it. You must get permission for however you plan to use it before you use it.
This may include having to pay for using it or limits on how you use it (for example, not including it in something you sell yourself).
What is a forum?
A discussion website where people discuss a particular topic. This is like a message board.
For example, a company having a forum for its users to discuss their products or how to use their products. It can be useful in education to get help learning things.
What is a wiki?
A wiki is a type of website that members can edit and add to. For example, Wikipedia.
Because many people can become members of wiki’s, the information on them are not always 100% accurate.
What do you know about search technology?
Companies pay for their results to appear in the search results when key words are used in the search term.
Search results can be filtered. Options are often found in ‘advanced search’
Filtered search results offer options to filter by time, explicit content, file type and several others.
Explicit content is content only suitable for adults. Search engines often filter these results under the option ‘safe search’.
What formulas do you know about in spreadsheets?
sum() is a function used to add a range of cells.
average() is a function that returns the average of a range selected.
**if() **is a function that returns a logic response such as true or false.
