What is the key to building successful relationships online?
Avoid making quick and rash decisions about the communications you make online. Stand up for others and do not flame situations.
What can you do about online bullying?
Always talk to a trusted adult (for example a parent or a teacher).
Capture any screenshot of bullying as evidence.
Recognise bullying may change as you get older. If you see other children’s behaviour changing, it may be a sign that they are being bullied.
E.g. repeatedly being unkind to someone because of how they look.
What types of bullying and similar behaviours do you know about?
What should you do if you are aware of someone else being bullied?

many other types, based on being unkind to someone because of part of who they are.
If someone you know is being bullied, options you have are to stick up for that person, avoid participating in bulling behaviours, know when to tell a trusted adult or online service or helpline.
What does it mean to be healthily sceptical when using the Internet?
Decide if the source of the information is credible (e.g. the url of the webpage).
Recognise that search engines use algorithms to decide on rankings and include adverts.
Recognise some people may present ‘opinions’ as ‘facts’.
What does it mean to influence, manipulate and persuade?
Influence: Means to change someone’s character or behaviour
Manipulation: Means to twist content to get what you want from a situation.
Persuasion: Means to change someone’s beliefs or behaviour.

If you are able to self-regulate your use of technology (monitor and be aware of your own use), then it helps you have fun and be exciting without causing many problems).
What are signs of addiction to technology and what should you do if you recognise signs of addiction in how you are using technology?
Thinking about yourself using technology a lot of the time, for example first thing in the morning or going to bed. Your sleep being affected or dreaming about what you were doing on technology.
If you recognise any of these beginning to happen, you should use the internet to search for phrases such as ‘how to avoid phone addition’ or ‘sleep problems gaming’ as well as speaking to a** trusted adult** such as a parent or teacher.
How should you use passwords to maximise your security?
Use different passwords for different sites.
Make sure they are strong passwords.
Use additional security like 2 factor authentication or facial recognition where available.
What do you know about malware, cookies and scams/phishing?
Malware: software that is malicious. Designed to steal information or break your device. E.g. Viruses, trojans.
Cookies: Let websites or apps remember pieces of information about you to make your user experience better
Scams and phishing: Targets people’s content to gain money or information illegally.
Use pop-up blockers, don’t open suspicious emails and muting or hiding averts and suspicious links in social media.
What are the Creative Commons?
Creative Commons media is an organisation set up to allow people to use others work. Some of this is free to use. Some comes with permissions attached to things you must do. For example, allowing you to use their work as long as you references where you have taken it from and who made the original content.
If someone takes someone else’s work from the internet and pretends it is there’s, even if they alter it, without permission this is plagiarism (pretending someone else’s work is yours). If this infringes copyright, it is illegal.
