Reason one: Quality of living improved - people would have healthier diets which made healthier lives.
Reason two: On average people would make 3+ children because they thought 2 of them would die. However, quality of health and hospitals improved making the chances of babies living a lot higher.
Reason three: Clean water supplies and sewers were installed.
Reason four: Cheap soap became available killing germs on people.
