A

•less people today are living in couples •there has been a big rise in the number of people living alone in - 2013 3/10 of households were one person 3x more than 1961
•40% of all one person households are people of pensionable age ,pensioner one person households have doubled since 1961 while those of non pensioners tripled.
• men under 65 - most likely to live alone, increase in the number of young men living alone

• this has created more one person household, especially amongst young men under 65. divorce - any children are most likely to live with their mother and their father is most likely to leave the home.

•the single adult population has risen by about half since 1971
