How can you easily define a problem?
Just explain what people are doing, or not doing, that’s causing the problem.
Then define what you would like to be happening.
What’s the difference between complaining and a problem?
If you cannot describe what you want to be happening, you don’t have a problem yet: you are just complaining.
A problem only exists if there is a difference between what is actually happening and what you desire to be happening

How do you do a 1-minute praising?
- Catch someone doing something right.
- Praise them as soon as possible
- Tell them precisely what they did right.
- Tell them how good you feel about what they did and how it helps
- Pause: allow them to feel good
- Encourage them to do more of the same
- Tell them you have confidence in them and support their success
How do you do a one-minute redirect?
- Redirect as soon as possible
- Confirm the facts first and review the mistake together. Be specific.
- Express how you feel about the mistake and it’s impact on results
- Be quiet to allow people time to feel concerned
- Remind them that they are better than their mistake
- Remind them that you have confidence and trust in them and support their success
- When the redirect is over, it’s over
