What are some common indications for 1 lung ventilation?
A
- pneumonectomy, lobectomy, segmental resection
- Any approach passing through the chest (mediastinum, esophagus or Any need to isolate 1 lung: (bleeding, infection, bronchopleural fistula)

After intubation, how is a patient positioned?
A
Lateral decubitus position.
Iatrogenic pneumothorax of the upper lung (non-dependent lung), provides access to surgical field.

Should IVF be given liberally or restricted during 1 lung ventilation?
A
Restrict IVF to basic maintenance due to risk of gravity dependent transudation of fluid to lower lung and edema to of collapsed lung (upper/ nondependent lung).
