Definition – a situation where we recognise illness in one part of an environment being intrinsically lined to another part.

- Natural resistance - if organism doesn’t have target
- Acquired resistance - organism picked up resistance gene so certain antibiotic won’t work
- Treatment failure - treating wrong bacterial w/wrong antibiotic
- Mutations will lead to degree of resistance
