Q

Closed-Route

A
  • closed-course assessment
  • typically done in an area without traffic and pedestrians (ex. vacated or limited access lot)
  • assesses knowledge and understanding of vehicle features (mirrors, seat belts, seat positioning) and of vehicle control at low speeds (steering, braking, acceleration, parking)

Q

Open Road with Fixed Route

A
  • open-course assessment
  • uses neighborhood streets and intersections with naturally occurring traffic and other road users such as pedestrians
  • tests drivers under the same environmental or infrastructure conditions (i.e. single or double lanes, fixed or signalized intersections), allowing for some control over extraneous variables encountered on the roadway

Q

Naturalistic Driving and Instrumented Vehicles
