for 3rd molars
- Winters - 1926, Pell and Gregory - 1933 & Archers - 1975
- Pedersons index, WHARFE, Winter’s Lines, Marciana
- Dodson’s Management Protocol (2012)
Describe the Pell & Gregory anatomical 3rd molar classification
Describe your choice for a difficulty index for 3rd molar extraction and why you use it?
Pederson’s Difficulty Index
I find it marries up well with how difficult I find extractions, I like how it mirrors the pell and gregory anatomical classification of 3rd molars. Simple.
Describe a management protocol for the extraction of 3rd Molars?
Dodson’s Management protocol (2012)
Describe the anatomical classification you would use for the impacted canine and what the likelihood of spontaneous eruption would be for the classificaiton?
Warfard (2003)
95% will erupt spontaneously in class I
60% in class II
17% in class III
0% in class IV
Classify the eruption disturbances.
Primary retention - cessation of eruption before emergence & no impaction
Secondary retention - cessation of eruption after emergency & no impaction
Impaction - The result of a physical barrier in the path of eruption
How do you classify supernumerary teeth?
- Number
- Single
- Multiple
- Morphology
- Conical
- Tuberculate
- Supplemental
- Odontomas
- Syndromic
- Syndromic
- Non-syndromic
Describe a protocol for the management of the impacted 1st and/or 2nd molar.
Raghoebar (1991)
Completed Dento alveolar - next is preprosthetics & implantology
