What contains the OME ?
is the primary reference for all Emergency and Safety standard operating procedures.
CSA
- Cabin Service Assistant
- Not SEP trained
- Not required to carry a UAE GCAA or SEP/Medical Licence.
- Not permitted access to the Flight Deck.
- Shall occupy any available ‘A’ position jump seat assigned to them by the Purser.
- If no ‘A’ position jump seat is available, the CSAs shall occupy a passenger seat blocked for them.
- Not subject to Flight Time Limitations, however they will follow the same pattern as Cabin Crew
- Rest will follow the same pattern as Cabin Crew
Procedure for Removal of a Crew Member
The problem will be discussed mutually by the Captain, the First Officer, and the Purser.
If the decision is to be removed -> VPNC should be contacted.
VPNC is in the best position to coordinate with support staff, assess the problem of crew replacement, and manage the delay
If the grounds for off-load are medical, the VPNC will consult with the Emirates Emergency Doctor.
Captain should brief the remaining crew that the Crew Member has stood
Portable oxygen bottle
Provides therapeutic oxygen to crew and passengers
Change bottle when pressure reaches 500 PSI
Pre-Flight Safety Checks
May be conducted with less than minimum Cabin Crew
When to do?
- Every time Cabin Crew and Flight Crew board the aircraft.
- Any time the aircraft is left unattended.
In DXB
Group Security staff -> does Security Search

Closing Doors
Closing all doors 3’ before the STD
When a delay occurs before door closure, Flight Crew shall agree about the reason for the delay with the Purser
- Purser request Permission to close the last door
- Capt “Cleared to close doors”
- When she leave the cockpit, she closes the cockpit door
Arming the Doors
Around the plane is confirmed clear of all Equipment
Capt should request
If not the Purser will do when plane is moving
Re-opening Cabin Doors on Stand After Arming
After the cabin doors have been armed, reopening of any cabin door is only allowed whilst stationary on the parking stand.
- Purser shall request the Captain’s permission to re-open any doors
- Flight Crew shall make the disarming PA: “Cabin Crew prepare all doors and cross-check”
- Door can be opened with a door checker present, following a knock on the door viewing window by ground personnel.I understand we need finger or airbridge
No aircraft cabin door shall be operated or left open without ground service equipment, platform or passenger loading bridge in place
Monitoring we are alive
Purser is responsible for monitoring the periodic checking on the Flight Crew by Cabin Crew.
Captain will advise the Purser of the time intervals and how the communication will take place
Cabin Circuit Braker
Resetting of tripped cabin circuit breakers in-flight is prohibited
When a circuit breaker trips, Cabin Crew must Inform the Flight Crew immediately.
Circuit breakers should not be pulled to reset unless advised by the Flight Crew.
Where to assist pax when medical assistance is needed?
Medical Service area -> only Main deck
Dispatch of the Aircraft with One Door Inoperative
Cabin Crew follow the standard operating procedures with regards to the door arming and disarming, regardless of the door operating status;
Max 2 doors INOP -> 1 per floor
If the affected door/emergency exit is operative mechanically, it may still be used for evacuation in the event of an emergency.
Lost phone in pax seat
- Relocate the Pax to another seat and block the affected seat
- Inform Flight Crew who will then communicate with Engineering regarding the requirement to retrieve the device on arrival.
If the passenger cannot be moved to another seat:
1. Inform the Flight Crew that the seat power has to be switched off.
2. Flight Crew to seek approval and advice from Maintenance Control Centre.
Encounter Turbulence
Inform Purser regarding what level of cabin service is appropriate e.g. can hot beverages be served to passengers
Anticipated -> First inform Purser then Seat belt
Moderate or Severe -> Report turbulence encounter to Flight Dispatch
Severe -> must be recorded in the technical log and an aircraft inspection should be requested.
Precautionary Disembarkation
It is a controlled evacuation
is an emergency situation where passengers disembark the aircraft as quickly as possible.
Captain will brief the Purser:
Which Doors to be used
Availability of stairs or Evacuation Slides
Emergency Evacuation - Timings
Evacuation should take no longer than 90’’
Rescue Personal will reach the plane within 2’
Access code cockpit
3 4 5 # ( after 30” open and then open 5”)
Exits for Evacuation
Land -> All
Ditching -> All except M3 (This Escape Slide are permanently Connected, in the event of activation Ditching p/b -> M3 inhibit slides deployment)
Escape Slide and Slide Rafts
16 (all) -> Escape Slide
14 of them -> Slide Rafts
Cabin Oxygen
Duration of flow will depend on:
Number of masks in use.
Cabin altitude, the lower the altitude the less oxygen that will flow into the masks.
When Cabin altitude reaches 10,000’ -> Oxygen flow will stop
The name of the bar
Social Area.
The number of pax there is limitated by oxygen mask

Are designed for use on ground only.
