Who is crooks?
Crooks is discriminated against as he is the only black man on the ranch. He lives separately from the other ranch hands.
Who is slim?
Slim has the highest status of the ranch hands and is well respected.
Why did Steinbeck create the character of Curley?
Steinbeck created the character of Curley to show the status of men over women in the 1930s.
He is also used to develop the other characters such as Lennie when he fights him.
