Theme - racism
Context - Due to the racism in the Great Depression black people where stripped from their rights.

Theme - Racism
Context - Black people had no power during the Great Depression and that he is low in the social hierarchy. This was the harsh reality during the 1930’s.

other people kept theirs.’
Themes - Racism
Context - Racism in the 1930’s was prominent due to the Great Depression. People needed to blame their pain onto others. The KKK was a white supremacy group who believed black people didn’t belong in America, causing racism to rise.

Theme - American Dream and migrant workers
Context - The American Dream is a unique fantasy Migrant workers had to give them hope in being their own boss and they had to work for income due to the economic crisis.
‘I could get you strung up on a tree so

Theme - Racism
Context - Racist group like the KKK would lynch (hang or kill) black people (and others) as they believed they didn’t belong in America

Theme - Loneliness, Migrant Workers, Great Depression
Context - Migrant Workers had to leave their homes and families to travel for work so they had little time to find be positively socially active, resulting in them being extremely lonely.

Theme - Pain, Bullying
Context - Many small men had a grudge against large men as they felt threatened by their strength

Context - Many Migrant workers, like George and Lennie had a dream to live on their own farm.

Theme - sexism
Context - During the 1930’s many women where objectified and sexually viewed. People assumed women were all promiscuous as many relationships consisted of little love and they were more money influenced

Theme - American Dream
Context - Not only Migrant Workers had dreams but women two. Many women dreamed of being in the movies. Women used to care massiveness about their appearance so they get attention as many where extremely lonely

Theme - Loneliness
Context - proves the vulnerability of women during the Great Depression in the 1930’s
‘the meanness and the plannings and the discontent and the ache for attention were all gone … pretty and simple … sweet and young’
Theme - Sexism, Loneliness
Context - During the Great Depression many women only had their appearance that made them feel good. Women were usually very lonely so they always wanted attention

hates big guys.’
Theme - cruelty
Context - During the 1930’s finding work was hard. You has to be strong and hard working. Being a smaller man it can be a disadvantage at finding work. If you are a bigger man (Lennie) it can be intimidating and threatening for smaller men.

Theme - Loneliness, Able-ism
Context - Older men, during the 1930’s, where considered not very useful when it comes to work as they were very fragile. Candy’s only companion was his dog, when the dog was shot he felt lonely and wanted to die with him.
‘Curley burst into the room … “Any you
guys seen my wife?” he demanded.
“Glove fulla vaseline”.
Theme - Sexism
Context - During the Great Depression men felt power over women and objectified them. Women where continuously sexulized and controlled by husbands or fathers
