Q

When do we not need a destination alternate?

A

OMA 8.1.2.2.2.4 - Dispatched under the Alternative Flight Planning Procedures, duration does not exceed 6 hours, 2 separate runways are available with weather reports +/- 1 hour ETA better than 2000ft ceiling or circling height +500ft with vis of 5k+ OR the destination aerodrome is isolated.

10
Q

When can we consider 2 runways to be separate?

A

OMA8.1 They are separate landing surfaces which may overlay or cross such that if one of the runways is blocked, it will not prevent the planned type of ops on the other runway. Each runway shall have a separate approach procedure based on a separate approach procedure based on a separate navigation aid.

Q

When do we require 2 destination alternates?

A

ONA 8.1 - The weather reports or forecasts at destination are below the applicable planning minima OR no meteorological information is available OR the landing performance requirements cannot be assured at a destination due to dependence on a specific wind component or runway state.

13
Q

When is a landing said to be ‘assured’?

A

OMA 8.3 - A landing is ‘assured’ if, in the judgement of the Commander, it could be completed in the event of any forecast deterioration in the weather and plausible single failures of ground and/or airborne facilities e.g CATII/III to CAT I.

14
Q

You are departing from an airfield where the RVR is 200m. What must you consider?

A

OMA 8.1 - 200m is CAT3A minima. Any further deterioration requires a takeoff alternate. Also if RVR drops further, absolute minima for takeoff is 125m. Low Vis takeoff so CM1 must be PF for takeoff.

15
Q

How long should cockpit oxygen last?

16
Q

A passenger arrives on a stretcher, can you carry him?

A

OMA 8.2 - There is no provision for the carriage of stretchers on easyJet aircraft.

17
Q

Can we accept the carriage of musical instruments in the cabin such as cellos?

A

OMA 8.2 Yes, as long as the conditions outlined are adhered to.

18
Q

What is the planning minima for a takeoff alternate?

A

OMA 8.1 - Required if the performance or met conditions preclude a return to the departure aerodrome, weather reports +/- 1hr, must be located within 320nm, ceiling shall be taken into account aswell as RVR for non-precision and circling approaches.

19
Q

Can we fly below CNR?

A

OMA 8.3 - Yes, when landing is assured, EAT or max delay known, at least final reserve fuel will remain at touchdown.

20
Q

Where can we find the maximum duty and flight time hours?

A

OMA 7.1.6

21
Q

How much can you reduce a rest period?

A

OMA 7.1.11.5 - 12 hours at home base, 10 hours out of base.

22
Q

What is the minimum age for an unaccompanied minor?

A

OMA 8.2.2.5 - 16 years old.

23
Q

Human remains are being loaded. Can you carry them?

A

OMA 8.2.2.6 - easyJet do not accept human remains for carriage on any routes.

24
Q

When shall the Commander advise ATC ‘MINIMUM FUEL’?

A

OMA 8.3.7.2 When having committed to land at a specific aerodrome, the pilot calculates that any change to the existing clearance to that aerodrome may result in landing with less than planned final reserve fuel. It informs ATC that all planned aerodrome options have been reduced to a specific aerodrome of intended landing.

25
Q

When shall the Commander broadcast a fuel emergency ‘MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY FUEL’?

A

OMA 8.3.7.2 When the calculated usable fuel predicted to be available upon landing at the nearest aerodrome where a safe landing can be made is less than the planned final reserve fuel.

26
Q

If down route it looks like you’ll be short on fuel, what options do you have?

A

OMA 8.3.7.1.3 Decrease aircraft speed, obtain a more direct route, fly closer to the optimum FL, land and refuel, commit to the destination as long as the criteria to do so are met.

27
Q

What are the planning minima for a destination alternate?

A

OMA 8.1.2.2.2 One approach category below the type of approach in use. E.g CATI minima if CATII/III is available.

28
Q

When do we need 2 destination alternates?

A

OMA 8.1.2.2.2.3 The weather reports or forecasts at destination are below the applicable planning minima OR no meteorological information is available OR the landing performance requirements cannot be assured at a destination aerodrome due to a dependence on a specific wind component or runway state.

29
Q

Where can we find info on FTLs?

A

OMA 7 / FRMS Manual

30
Q

Where can we find info on Dangerous goods?

A

OMA section 9.

31
Q

How many cabin crew do we need to board?

A

See OMA 4.1.4.4 Many conditions including SCCM present aswell as 1 flightdeck member, ultimately 50 pax per CC member present.

32
Q

Can we carry deportees? Can you deny them?

A

OMA 8.2 yes and yes. Commander can deny admission on the grounds of safety risk.

33
Q

When do we have to wear full seatbelts in flight?

A

OMA 8.3.11.1 - TURB / Seat belt SIGNS ON / takeoff and landing / commands discretion / if other pilot is absent from FD

34
Q

What are the minima and requirements for a low vis takeoff, which RVRs do you need, do you need them all?

A

OMA 8.1.3.3 and 8.1.3.8.1 RVR 125m for all relevant reporting points. Initial part can be replaced by pilots assessment.

LVO in force
HIRCL 15m
HIREL 60m
Both crew members qualified
90m visual segment (6 lights) available at the start of the takeoff run
35
Q

You’re on line somewhere, no engineers available - tech fault - which failures can you sign off and release as a Captain?

A

OMA 8.1.11.13.2 - The Commander may defer a defect themselves that does not require a maintenance procedure after consultation with MOC. This is acceptable when there is no local approved maintenance available and the Commander has established that the operation of the aircraft can continue within the requirements of the MEL/CDL.
