ok Flashcards
what increases when a cell divides?
subcellular structures
what are animal cells made of?
nucleus cytoplasm cell membrane mitochondria ribosomes.
what are plant cells made out of?
rigid cell wall permanent vacuole chloroplasts.
what does a nucleus do?
holds genetic material and controls the activities of the cell.
what is cytoplasm?
where most chemical reactions take place. it contains enzymes.
what does a cell membrane do?
holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out.
what does mitochondria do?
where reactions for aerobic respiration take place. respiration transfers energy that cell needs to work.
what do ribosomes do?
this is where proteins are made in a cell.
what does a rigid cell wall do?
made of cellulose. it supports the cell and strengthens it.
what does a permanent vacuole do?
contains cell sap weak solution of sugar and salts
what do chloroplasts do?
where photosynthesis occurs, which makes food for the plant
