OINA 11-20 Flashcards
What are the proximal and distal attachments of coracobrachialis?
Proximal: Tip of coracoid process of scapula
Distal: Middle third of medial surface of humerus
What is the blood supply to coracobrachialis?
Axillary artery; anterior circumflex humeral artery
What nerve innervates the coracobrachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve
What is the action of coracobrachialis?
Helps flex and adduct arm; resists dislocation of shoulder
What are the proximal and distal attachments of the biceps brachii?
Proximal: Short head- tip of coracoid process of scapula
Long head- supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Distal: Tuberosity of radius and fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
What is the blood supply to biceps brachii?
Brachial artery; deltoid branch of thoracoacromial trunk
What nerve innervates the biceps brachii?
Musculocutaneous nerve
What is the action of biceps brachii?
Supinates forearm, and when it is supine it flexes the forearm; short head resists dislocation of shoulder
What are the proximal and distal attachments of brachialis?
Proximal: Distal half of anterior surface of humerus
Distal: Coronoid process and tuberosity of the ulna
What is the blood supply to the brachialis?
Brachial artery; superior ulnar collateral arteries
What nerve innervates brachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve and radial nerve
What is the action of brachialis?
Flexes forearm in all positions
What are the proximal and distal attachments of triceps brachii?
Proximal: Long head- infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Lateral head- posterior surface of humerus, superior to radial groove
Medial head- Posterior surface of humerus, inferior to radial groove
Distal: Proximal end of olecranon of ulna and fascia of forearm
What is the blood supply of triceps brachii?
Profunda brachii artery; Posterior circumflex humeral artery
What nerve innervates the triceps brachii?
Radial nerve
