What is Lithography?
A method of printing using stone or a metal plate with a smooth surface
What is plate?
A surface on which the image for printing in placed
What is unit?
Each section of the press that holds a specific colour
What is feed?
The front of the press where paper is fed in
What is delivery unit?
The back of the press where paper exits the press
What is dampening unit?
Where water is trickled into the press to cover the non-image areas of the plate
What is inking unit?
Where ink is fed onto the image areas of the plate
What is blanket?
A rubber surfaced cylinder that receives image from the plate and transfers it onto the paper
What is grippers?
The mechanical “fingers” that pull paper thought the press
What is separations?
When an image is broken down into its individual colors (CMYK)
What is hydrophobic?
Repels water; the image area on the plate that accepts ink
What is hydrophilic?
Accepts water; the remaining area of the plate that shouldn’t be covered in ink
What would you consider the most crucial parts of your press run?
Ensuring that your paper feeds smoothly and delivers neatly.
What some parts are named three of the feed unit?
