What is Treason?
Breach of allegiance to the government
What constitutes Treason?
1) Levying war against the government 2) adhering to the governments enemies 3) giving the governments enemies aid or comfort
What is Perjury?
The intentional taking of a false oath (lying) in regard to a material matter (one that might affect the outcome of a proceeding) in a judicial proceeding.
What is Subornation of Perjury?
Procuring or inducing another to commit perjury
What is Bribery?
The corrupt payment or receipt of anything for official action.
How is Bribery extended Modernly?
Extended to Nonpublic officials, and either the offering of a bribe or the taking of a bribe, may constitute the crime
What is Compounding a Crime?
Agreeing, for valuable consideration, not to prosecute another for a felony or to conceal the commission of a felony or the whereabouts of a felon.
How is Compounding a Crime extended Modernly?
The definition now refers to any crime
What is Misprision of Felony?
At common law, the failure to disclose knolwledge of the commission of a felony or the failure to prevent the commission of a felony. Modernly, however, it is no longer a crime (or if it remains a crime, it requires some affirmative action in aid of the felon).
