What is the duration Firearms licenses are issued for?
What ages require what licenses?
1)10 Years
2) 0-16 - can use a firearm or air gun under direct supervision of license holder
16-18 - Requires a license for both firearm and air gun.
18- Requires a license for a firearm
What are the catergories and conditions?
A) Full license for possession and use of conventional firearms
B) Pistols if they are part of a pistol club
C) Collections, restricted weapons and use of weapons in theatrical performances
D) Firearms dealers- Hunting and fishing etc.
What are the duties of a firearm license holder?
- Change of address- Must notify police within 30 days
- Report to police, in writing, circumstances of any theft, loss or destruction of the firearm
- produce on demand or within 7 days of the demand at police station.
Define Firearm…..
Anything from which any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile can be discharged by force of explosive and includes: anything adapted, dismantled, partially dismantled.
Define Prohibited Firearm….
- Pump action shotgun capable of being used with a detachable magazine
- Pump action shot gun that has non detachable tubular magazine or magazines capable of holding 5 cartridges.
- A semi automatic firearm (except a pistol) other than: a semi automatic that is capable of firing only 0.22
Define Pistol…..
any firearm that is designed or adapted to be held and fired with one hand and includes and firearm that is less than 762mm in length.
What details can be demanded from a person in possession of a firearm, pistol, airgun,etc under section 66 of the arms act 1993?
