Where did the “regulars” mainly come from and why did they join the army?
The regulars came mainly from the poorer classes of Irelamd, Scotland and England they joined the army to get away from the poor economics conditions at home.

What was the traditional way of war?
They were trained to march shoulder to shoulder carrying their muskets in hand. Then, the first rank would shoot a volley and duck while the second rank would shoot the first rank would be reloading their muskets, after the second rank was done shooting their volley the third rank would then shoot their musket while the second rank would be reloading and hopefully by that time the first rank would be done reloading their muskets and could shoot again.
What happened and what was used in hand to hand combat?
When there was hand to hand combat there would be a long sharp blade also known as a bayonette which the opposing side could use to hit them with along with swords, butts of muskets and fists.
