Of Mice and Men character analysis Flashcards
Lennie’s most obvious traits
He is physically very strong and tall but is mentally ‘slow’ and relies on George to make most his decisions for him.
Explain why Lennie is the least dynamic character
He always remains focused on one day living the dream of ‘tending the rabbits’. His mind never really changes and is the same character, in the point of view of the reader, at the end as he is in the beginning.
Lennie’s most prominent desires
Petting soft things.
Tomato ketchup.
Guidance of George.
Living their american dream.
George’s most obvious traits
Short tempered but a loving, devoted friend. ‘humble but witty guy’. He is significantly shorter than Lennie but more intelligent.
Changes George goes through throughout the book
George admits to Slim he once abused Lennie for amusment. He longs to be free of worries but always knows the dreams are unlikely to happen. When Lennie dies we see George isn’t particularly sad, from what we read, so we know that the loss of friendship has ‘killed’ George in a way.
George’s most prominent desires
To be carefree.
To always have the company of Lennie beside him.
The dream.
Candy’s most prominent traits
He’s the oldest worker that we know of. He has one missing hand due to an accident and his only friend is his old dog.
Links to himself and his dog
Both older and not so great at what they do anymore. When Carlson shoots his dog, Candy seems to die too.
