Of Mice and Men - Chapter 5 Flashcards
“‘Why do you got to get killed? You ain’t so little as mice. I didn’t bounce you hard.’”
pg120
Lennie did not mean to kill the pup. Doesn’t understand his own strength.
“‘Now I won’t get to tend the rabbits. Now he won’t let me.’ He rocked himself back and forth in his sorrow.”
pg121
All Lennie is concerned about is the rabbits and his sorrow is for them, not for the pup he has just killed.
“‘I don’t (like) Curley. He ain’t a nice fella.’”
pg125
Curley’s wife confesses how she feels about her husband.
“‘You stop it now, you’ll mess it all up.’ She jerked her head sideways, and Lennie’s fingers closed on her hair and hung on.”
pg127
After inviting Lennie to touch her hair, she wants him to stop, but he just holds on. Link to the red dress in weed.
“and he shook her; and her body flopped like a fish. And then she was still, for Lennie had broken her neck.”
pg128
Lennie shakes her to make her be quiet. He doesn’t mean to kill her.
