Extends in every direciton fairly equally
Histology of ameloblastoma?
Ameloblast-like cells - columnar cells with darkly stained nuclei - arranged in island or strands
Loose stellate reticulum
Radiological signs ameloblastoma?
Multicystic - 85-90% - soap bubble
Well-defined corticated margins
Primarily radiolucent
May cause external root resorption of other teeth
Management of ameloblastoma?
Surgical resection
15% recurrence rate
What are the common radiological features of Adenomatoid odontogenic tumour (AOT)?
Unilocular radiolucency
Internal calcifications
Well-defined corticated margins
Common presentation of AOT?
75% associated with an unerupted tooth
Commonly associated with a maxillary canine
Similar to dentigerous cyst but typically attached apical to CEJ
May displace adjacent structures
