  • pattern of negativistic/hostile and defiant behaviour for ≥6 mo with ≥4 of:
  • ODD kids “ARE BRATS”
    • Annoying
    • Resentful
    • Easily annoyed
    • Blames others
    • Rule breaker
    • Argues with adults
    • Temper
    • Spiteful/vindictive

A

onset <8 yr, chronic duration (>6 mo), frequent intrusive behaviour

A

ADHD can use Rx, Rx has no effect on ODD. Psychological Mx better.

A

Child interventions:

  • Social skills - communication skills, accepting no
  • CBT
  • Motivational interviewing

Family interventions:

  • teach how to teach
  • parent-child relationship work
  • counselling and family therapy esp. defining rules
