-meet the needs of Ontarians, as patients, consumers and taxpayers
-involve consumers and patients in a meaningful way
Operate transparently to the extent possible for all persons with an interest in the system, including, without being limited to, patients, health care practitioners, consumers, manufacturers, wholesalers and pharmacies
-consistently achieve value for money and ensure the best use of resources at every level of the system
-make funding decisions for drugs based on the best clinical and economic evidence available

The pharmacy council:

A

-is established by the minister of health
-is co-chaired by representatives of the ministry of Health and the Ontario Pharmacists Association
-Ensures the involvement of pharmacists in the development of pharmaceutical and health policy

A

Eligibility

A

Community based, out-patient drug benefits to the following Ontario residents:

-Eligible for OHIP
65 years of age
-qualify for drugs benefits under odb on the first day of the month following their 65th birthday
receiving Ontario disability support program or ontario works benefits
residing in homes for special care or long term care homes
-receiving services under the home care program
-registered in the trillium drug program
