Annual State of Education Report (ASER) survey 2020 Wave 1, conducted in September, has been released.
• ASER 2020 – 1st via phone calls based survey;
• States covered - 26 States and 4 Union Territories;
o 52,227 families, having 59,251 children in the age group of 5-16 years, were assessed.
• Conducted by - NGO Pratham (for the last 15 years)
• 2020 edition was focused on online education.

Online education:
• 11% of all the students enrolled in both private and govt schools were pursuing online classes, 21.5% were using videos or recorded classes.
• By 2020, that figure had increased to 61.8% rural households with school-going children had smartphones.

Status of learning at home:
• 20% of rural children have no textbooks at home.
• proportion of children with textbooks at home falls below 70% in only three states: Rajasthan (60.4%), Telangana (68.1%), and Andhra Pradesh (34.6%).

State of school enrolment:
• 5.3% of rural children aged 6-10 years had not yet enrolled in school this year
• Boys in govt school- 66.4% in 2020
• Girls in govt school- 73% in 2020

Teacher’s online knowledge:
• Around 50% of the teachers surveyed, did not receive any form of training.
• 50.6% teachers who taught between Grades III to V were the best trained.

• India also offered to provide grant assistance for implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) for furthering socio-economic development in the countries of the region.

State Bank of India and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) have signed a loan agreement of $1 billion to provide funds for the manufacturers, suppliers and dealers of Japanese automobiles in India.
As part of the agreement, $600 million will be financed by JBIC and $400 million by other Japanese banks such as SMBC, MUFG Bank, Mizuho Bank, Shizuoka Bank and Bank of Yokahama.
