Flat Character
A well-developed character who demonstrates varied and sometimes contradictory traits.
Round Character
A character which changes during the course of a story or novel. The change in outlook or character is permanent.
Dynamic Character
A character that remains primarily the same throughout a story or novel.
Static Character
External description of the character.
Extrinsic Trait
Internal attributes and personalities of the character.
Intrinsic Trait
The time and place in which the story takes place.
Setting
In written composition, is an attitude of a writer toward a subject or an audience.
Tone
A literary element that evokes certain feelings or vibes in readers through words and descriptions.
Mood
An author’s use of vivid and descriptive language to add depth to their work.
Imagery
An object representing another to give it an entirely different meaning that is much deeper and more significant.
Symbolism
The events that make up a story or the main part of a story. These events relate to each other in a pattern or a sequence

Exposition
A struggle between opposing forces that drives the action of the story.
Conflict

Rising Action
The peak of action and conflict.
