OCS Flashcards
What are the 5 main HF frequencies monitored by Auckland Radio?
3467 5643 8867 13261 17904
What are the vertical dimensions of controlled airspace within the lateral boundaries of the Nadi FIR?
SFC-F095: Class G
F095-F200: Class D
F200-F600: Class A
Above F600: Class g
Define the NF Island CTA-F
Within 30NM up to F095
Who is designated as the Senior ATS person when the team leader is not available?
Deputy team leader or Pacific OCS controller
Who is responsible for the provision of an inflight briefing service to all flights in the Auckland Oceanic FIR? Are there any exceptions?
Airground operator, except SIGMET for CPDLC aircraft are responsibility of OCS controller
How should Oceanic Controllers action queues?
RED or YELLOW have priority over other queues. Controllers shall action queues according to priority indicated.
Describe the controller’s responsibilities when OCS displays an Advisory conflict alert
In normal circumstances immediate resolution is not required
Describe the controllers responsibilities when OCS displays an Actual/Imminent conflict alert
Immediate resolution is required
When are controllers permitted to activate the “Conflict Override” function?
- when domestic or military separation is being applied
- changing levels after mutual sight and pass
- traffic info has been passed to aircraft outside controlled airspace
- responsibility for separation has been delegated to another sector
- the conflict is wholly contained in another FIR and brought to their attention if necessary
- the conflict is with a SUA/MIL area for RNZAF ops, which is outside controlled airspace, if there is reasonable assurance the aircraft will out climb the area and a position report is obtained to confirm
What separation standards does OCS NOT recognise or apply?
domestic separation standards e.g. lat seps
What LONGITUDINAL separation standards may be used in the oceanic environment between aircraft climbing, descending or maintaining the same level on the same track?
T15 T10 RNP D50 D30 MNT
With respect to an active SUA, within what distance of that SUA will OCS indicate a conflict?
50NM or
entering the area for SPACE DEBRIS
What procedures exist for the management of cruise climb requests?
Cruise climb clearances are prohibited. Block clearances may be used instead.
With respect to RNP navigation in oceanic airspace, how is a navigational deviation defined?
- unauthorised lateral deviation of 15NM or more, observed by any means
- a variation of 10NM or more from specified longitudinal distance standard, observed by ADS-C
- a variation of 3 minutes or more from a specified time given for a reporting point or FIR boundary
