OCI Architecture Flashcards
3 OCI Layers of Physical Architecture
2 OCI Layers of Logical Architecture
Physical:
- Regions
- Availability Domains
- Fault Domains
Logical:
- Tenancy
- Compartments
Availability Domains
Do not share and physical infrastructure and failures in one should not impact another e.g. separate data centres
Fault Domains
3 per Availability Domain
No single point of failure across FDs
Maintenance/changes never carried out in two FDs in the same AD at same time
Compartments - 4 key principals
Tenancy holds the root compartment
Allow resources to be isolated from eachother and access controlled
Compartments can be nested up to 6 levels deep or can be completely separate
Access to compartments can be controlled by policies
Resources within Comparftments - 6 key principals
Each resource belongs to a single compartment
Resources can interact with resources in other compartments
Resources and compartments can be added and deleted ay any time
Resources can be moved between compartments
Resources from multiple regions can reside in the same compartment
Costs and budgets for resources can be analyzed by compartment
