OCI Architecture Flashcards
localized geographic area comprising of one or more availability domains
Region
One or more fault-tolerant data centers located within a region
Availability domain
How are availability domains connected to each other?
Low latency, high bandwidth network
Grouping of hardware and infrastructure within an availability domain to provide anti-affinity.
Fault domain
aka
logical data centers
Differentiated hybrid cloud offering
Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer
Primary key criteria for choosing a region
Choose a region closest to your users for lowest latency and highest performance.
Secondary key criteria for choosing a region
Data residency and compliance.
Third key criteria for choosing a region
Service Availability that is based on regional demand
Isolated from each other, fault tolerant and very unlikely to fail simultaneously
Availability Domain
Because Availability Domains do not share physical infrastructure: power, cooling or internal network
A failure that impacts one availability domain is unlikely to impact other availability domains
Each availability domain has “ “ fault domains
Three
The general constructs of fault domains and availability domains
help you avoid points of failure.
