What is a habitat?
Special place in community where plants or animals live.
What is an ecosystem?
Community of living and non living things working together.
What is a producer?
Organisms that create its own food using energy from sunlight.
What is a consumer?
Organism that needs to eat other organisms to survive.
What is some type of eco-systems?
Forest, Tundra, Desert, Freshwater, Ocean, Grassland and Alpine.
What is a food chain?
Basic network showing how energy and nutrients flow linearly through an energy pyramid.
What is a food web?
Shows how energy and nutrients move through an all ecosystem.
Define Adaptions
Inherited characteristics which enable organism to survive/reproduce more effectively.
What is a structual adaption?
Unique features of the body that help animal to survive in its enviroment like wings and tails.
What is a physiological adaption?
Unique proccesses inside the body that help animal to survive in its enviroment like chemical and metabolism changes.
What is behavioral adaption?
Unique actions taken that help the animal to survive in its enviroment like how they move and how they communicate with eachother.
Define interdependance?
Organisms depend on eachother for survival.
Define Biomagnification?
Toxin build up and affects the top of the food chain.
Define Bioaccumulation?
Toxin build up and affects the organism.
What are characteristics of a predator?
Sharp teeth, beady eyes, facing the front, paws for grip and speed, venom and usually a carnivore.
