Assessment
collecting and interpreting data about a person’s function and environment with tests, measurements and environment analysis to make a decision and monitor change.
Asset
Any factor/ resource which enhances the individual ability to maintain and sustain well-being/health.
These assets can be individual, familial or community level which protects and individual of their life stresses.
Asset-based approach
An approach that values, utilises
and builds upon the abilities, skills,
knowledge and other resources of
individuals, families, groups and
communities. It aims to promote
and strengthen the factors that
support good health and wellbeing,
enabling those individuals, groups
and communities to gain more
control over their lives and
circumstances.
Best interest
asking if the action/care plan is the best one for the service user. Therapist must also recognise the use of
best interests decisions under the
Mental Capacity Act 2005 (Great
Britain. Parliament 2005), the
approach is extended within these
standards to all service users.
Autonomy
the ability to make their own decision based from the information provided to said individual
