What q’s ask in hx related to occlusion?
Any pain - muscle/joint/face
Aware clenching
Difficult chewing
Stress levels
What q in dental hx would relate to occlusion?
Any previous dx
Restoration failure
Tooth fracture
What medical condition may affect occlusion?
Arthritis - osteo/RA
Trauma H&N
Medication cause grind/bruxism
What is included in general occlusal exam?
Assess TMJ inc muscles
Look at: incisor, molar and skeletal class, overbite/jet, any cross bite, over erupted teeth
What included in detailed occlusal analysis?
ICP contacts RCP contacts ICP= RCP or slide? Anterior guidance Lateral excursion
What equipment is needed for occlusal analysis?
Shimstock foil - 8 microns
GHM paper - 19 microns
How check ICP?
Use shim stock +- GHM
How check RCP?
Gently manipulate into RCP
Note first contact w/ GHM
How check anterior guidance?
Use shim stock +- GHM use slow movements
Check posterior disocclsuion - any contacts?
What expect see anterior guidance class I incisor?
Posterior disocclude - guide on anterior teeth
What expect see anterior guidance class II div I?
Initial posterior guidance - some guidance anterior
What expect see anterior guidance class II div II?
Lots force anterior teeth
Vertical component
