Observation Flashcards
what are paragraph headings for
Q1)’Evaluate Aquinas cosmological argument for God’s existence’
1)motion and causation (way 1&2)
2)infinite regress
3)logical leap/way 3 necessary being
Reasons against challenging motion and causation
-we can observe motion/change in the universe today e.g a tree will not become a table without a carpenter
-Leibniz’s principle of sufficient reason, everything in the universe needs an explanation , why is there something rather than nothing?
-we collect observations from the past to make predictions about the future, it is using empirical evidence although not certain
Reasons for challenging motion and causation
-we can confuse causation and correlation
-Hume, fallacy of composition
-existentialists asking why the universe exists is an unanswerable question
-problem of induction
-Bertrand russel developed Hume’s point using quantum physics (self causing atoms)
