Objectives Flashcards
Developing Mager’s Objectives
1) Specific Student Behavior
2) Circumstance under which the behavior will be preformed
3) Criterion for adequate performance
What is specific student behavior?
determine what you want them to do
What is the circumstance?
- context (maps/states/capitals)
- Give _______ SWBAT _______
What is the criterion?
% accuracy/meets criterion
What is Intentional Learning?
- told specifically what to learn
- when tested on material outside of objectives = less likely to do well
What is Incidental Learning?
Exploration
What type of learning is helpful/hurtful?
Low- about the same
Avg- Intentional works better
High- Incidental works better
Types of Objectives?
Magerian and Gronlund’s
How do the two types of objectives differ?
Magerian is more structured, easier to assess
Gronlund is more investigative
What are the 3 characteristics of Effective Objectives?
- Student’s perspective
- Learning Outcomes
- Identify Observable behaviors
