OB Chapter 49/50 Flashcards
What image comes right after position?
situs
abdomen first
chest (heart) second - apex points to left side
What is the suggested protocol for OB scanning?
survey ut, CX, LUS, adnexa
fetal cardiac activity
fetal position
placental location
AFI - 4 quads
anatomy survey of fetus
BPP
How are the placentas graded?
this shows the age of the placenta
0-3 is the grading
What are you looking for in the placenta?
position
texture
age
cord insertion
maternal vessels
Scanning the placenta?
crisp image
sag and trv
cord insertion with color
What contributes to the production of amniotic fluid?
slide 20
What are the standard cranium measurements?
cerebellum
choroid plexus
cisterna magna (10mm)
lateral cerebral ventricles (10mm)
midline falx
cavum septum pellucidi
nuchal thickness (<5mm)
What produces CSF?
choroid plexus
What is the threshold for measuring the lateral ventricles?
> 10mm
How do you measure the lateral ventricle?
measure perpendicular to the ventricle not the baby head right to the end of the choroid plexus
What pathology has dangling choroid plexus?
ventriculomegaly
What cannot be through the CSP when doing the BPD?
the falx.
Its in the picture but not THROUGH the csp
What is the corpus callosum?
echopenic structure seen in trv plane as band of tissue
finish slide 38
What are the cerebral peduncles?
toward the base of the skull
finish slide 39
What are you assessing in the profile picture?
