Oargalles Flashcards
Nucleus?
It is the control centre for the cell. Also containing the DNA
Cell Wall?
Cell walls provide support, strength, and protection for plants and help plants hold their shape, even when thirsty. (An animal cell does not have a cell wall)
Cell Membrane?
A cell membrane allows useful substances to enter the cell while blocking the bad ones.
Vacuole? (Plant)
A vacuole is a storage area for a cell. It can store food, water, or anything else a cell may need to survive.
Vacuole? (Animal)
A vacuole is a storage area for a cell. It can store food, water, or anything else a cell may need to survive. Plus the waste of the cell.
Mitochondria?
The powerhouse of the cell. TURNS THE FOOD INTO ENERGY.
Chloroplasts?
Makes the food for the plant. Found in the plant cell to help with photosynthesis.
Cytoplasm?
The watery fluid. The cytoplasm is responsible for holding the components of the cell and protecting them from damage.
Ribosomes?
A ribosomes is a small organelle involved in the process of making protein, which is called protein synthesis.
Pronounce Ribosomes?
rai · bow · sowes
Golgi Body?
The organelle that sorts and ships the protein made by the ER
Smooth ER
Gets rid of waste and processes the other materials.
Rough ER
The ER is a network of membranes found in the cloroplasts.
