OA 50 questions Flashcards
LXD
Learning Experience Design
*all in one, all previous learning designs. Like, graphic design, interaction design
ADDIE (5 step approach)
Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate
SAM 3 Phases (successive approximations model)
PROTOTYPE
Agile approach, things happen quickly.
Phase 1: Preparation Phase (information gathering)
Phase 2: Iterative Phase (Prototype, Design, Review)
Phase 3: Iterative Development Phase (Implement, develop, evaluate)
Understanding by design (UbD)/backward design
You start from the last step
Step 3: Instruction
Step 2: Assessments
Step 1: Goal
Design thinking process steps (non-linear)
Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test
Behaviorist (Behavior) Approach
How teachers model behavior for students.
Repetition, teacher-directed, clear expectations, rewarding good behavior.
Cognitivist (Cognition) Approach
Provide opportunities for the learner to think about things
Teacher-directed, chunking the information (small pieces), real-world examples.
Constructivist (Construct) Approach
Create
Building knowledge
Learners direct learning, Teachers provide tools, and learners take over.
Connectivist (Connect) Approach
Ask what the student already knows on the subject
Focuses on technology
Connect the dots, between the teacher and learners.
Technology will provide opportunities to teach the learner. Online Learning.
Andragogy vs Pedagogy
Andragogy: Adult learner, self actualization, gaining experience, and problem solving.
Pedagogy: Student learner, Teacher guided, content defined by teacher,
Metacognition
Thinking about thinking. Encourage our learners to think about their thinking and their learning.
Fink’s Taxonomy (6) (Significant learning- Human, Caring, metacognition)
Free-flowing. All areas interact with each other
*Caring about content- Empathy, connections with content
*Foundational (background) knowledge
*Learning how to learn (Metacognition)
*Human dimension- how what we are learning relates to us
*Application
*Integration
Merrill’s First Principels of Instruction
(Problem Centered)
Essential for effective instructional design. Problem Centered
*Activating prior knowledge
*Demonstrating concepts- Teaching content, providing examples.
*Providing opportunities for application- Authentic and real world.
*Promoting integration with existing knowledge.
Gagne’s 9 events of instruction
9 key events that must be present in any learning experience.
*Gaining attention - Attention getter
*Inform learner of objective- Today we will…
*Stimulate recall of prior information-build on concepts that we have done previously
*Present information-lectures, activities, videos
*Provide guidance- Start to ask questions
*Elicit performance-students doing things, small groups
*Provide feedback- individualize instructions
*Assess preformance- formative or summative way
*Enhance retantion and transfer- learn this and transfer this later in life or in the classroom.
SAM vs UbD
SAM uses feedback and repetitive prototype improvement to drive the process, whereas the UbD approach uses the desired learning outcomes.
Consultative Process vs Unsystematic Process
-A consultative process is a structured and deliberate method of engaging stakeholders or experts to gather input, share perspectives, and make informed decisions.
-An unsystematic process is informal, ad hoc, and lacks a clear structure or methodology. Decisions or actions are often based on intuition, personal judgment, or convenience rather than data or stakeholder input.
UDL: Provide multiple means of engagement
Active, engaged, are challenged. Game based learning.
UDL: Provide Multiple Means of Representation
Audio content, video to view.
UDL: Provide Multiple Means of Action & Expression
allow students to show their mastery in the content through a paper test or oral presentation.
Which educational framework primarily seeks to make instruction effective, efficient, and engaging?
