orthodox morning prayers

A

Having risen from sleep, before any other action, stand reverently, considering thyself to be in the presence of the All-seeing God, and, having made the sign of the Cross, say:In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.I forsake all earthly things x 10O God, be merciful to me a sinner. Thrice.O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, for the sake of the prayers of Thy most pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.As I rise from sleep, I thank Thee, O Holy Trinity, for through Thy great goodness and patience Thou wast not angry with me, an idler and sinner, nor hast Thou destroyed me with mine iniquities, but hast shown Thy usual love for mankind; and when I was prostrate in despair, Thou hast raised me up to keep the morning watch and glorify Thy power. And now enlighten my mind’s eye, and open my mouth that I may meditate on Thy words, and understand Thy commandments, and do Thy will, and hymn Thee in heartfelt confession, and sing praises to Thine all-holy name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.O come let us worship God our King.O come let us worship and fall down before Christ our King and God.O come let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God.

I, MICHAEL JOHN PORTELLI, PROMISE TO LIVE MY LIFE IN UNION WITH JESUS, MARY & JOSEPH IN MY HEART, MIND, BODY AND SOUL. I DESIRE TO LIVE CRUCIFIED TO THE THINGS OF THE WORLD AND WITH THE WORLD CRUCIFIED TO ME. MY DISPOSITION MUST BE TO LIVE MY INTERIOR LIFE IN THIS WORLD, AS IF I AM ALREADY IN MY COFFIN, COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD, COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM MY SPECIFIC PRAYERS, BUT FULLY ALIVE TO GOD THROUGH THE SCAFFOLD OF MY DAILY PRAYER RESOLUTIONS.I MUST LIVE THIS DAY AS IF IT IS THE LAST DAY OF MY LIFE AND I COUNT THE PAST AS NOTHING AND SAY “NOW! I WILL BEGIN TO LOVE MY GOD, MY WIFE, MY SON AND ALL OF HUMANITY!” I tell you, most solemnly, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies, it yields a rich harvest. Anyone who loves his life loses it; anyone who hates his life in this world, will keep it for the eternal life.” John 12:24-26The Chaplet of Interior DispositionI MUST LIVE THE PRESENT MOMENT AS IF IT IS THE FIRST MOMENT, THE LAST MOMENT AND THE ONLY MOMENT THAT I HAVE, TO PRAISE, BLESS, LOVE, ADORE, WORSHIP AND GLORIFY MY LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, MY MOST HOLY MOTHER, QUEEN AND SPOUSE THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, AND MY MOST BELOVED FATHER, LORD AND MASTER ST JOSEPH.I count the past as nothing and say ‘Now I will begin to love my God’ x 10I must live the present moment as if my entire salvation depends on that moment and that fighting for peace in my soul is the only one thing necessary.I was not born for the things of this world, but for eternal life x10I must live the present moment offering up my life continuously for the sanctification of my family:my most precious Son Isaac, my beloved Spouse Agnes, and for my own sanctification. All is vanity, vanity of vanities, chasing of the wind x10I must live the present moment offering up my life continuously for the salvation of souls, for the conversion of sinners and for the sanctification of the Society of Jesus, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the Sisters of St Joseph, and of the Universal Church. He must Increase and I must decrease x10I must live the present moment in union with my crucified Saviour, on my deathbed or rather, in my coffin, living my entire life with the disposition that I am always on the precipice between life and death, and that in union with St Paul I proclaim that “the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”For The Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.

My daily bread

A

My God, make me brave enough to face my faults, honest enough to acknowledge them, and strong enough to fight them. I think of many things each day, but so many of my interests are unimportant and useless. Give me the strength and the generosity to make definite resolutions against definite faults. May I never be so selfish as to stop trying to please You more each day. Though my faults seem to continue, still my efforts must remain firm and I must go on trying to become daily a better man. If I will go on trying, I cannot help becoming better each day. A continued effort will slowly destroy my selfishness, and my faults will gradually weaken and die. Lord, on You I depend for the light and strength for this daily battle. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary

A

DPR20A - ACT OF CONSECRATION TO MARY (8:30)
O Eternal and incarnate Wisdom! O sweetest and most adorable Jesus! True God and true man, only Son of the Eternal Father, and of Mary, always virgin! I adore Thee profoundly in the bosom and splendors of Thy Father during eternity; and I adore Thee also in the virginal bosom of Mary, Thy most worthy Mother, in the time of Thine incarnation.

I give Thee thanks for that Thou hast annihilated Thyself, taking the form of a slave in order to rescue me from the cruel slavery of the devil. I praise and glorify Thee for that Thou hast been pleased to submit Thyself to Mary, Thy holy Mother, in all things, in order to make me Thy faithful slave through her. But, alas! Ungrateful and faithless as I have been, I have not kept the promises which I made so solemnly to Thee in my Baptism; I have not fulfilled my obligations; I do not deserve to be called Thy child, nor yet Thy slave; and as there is nothing in me which does not merit Thine anger and Thy repulse, I dare not come by myself before Thy most holy and august Majesty. It is on this account that I have recourse to the intercession of Thy most holy Mother, whom Thou hast given me for a mediatrix with Thee. It is through her that I hope to obtain of Thee contrition, the pardon of my sins, and the acquisition and preservation of wisdom.

Hail, then, O immaculate Mary, living tabernacle of the Divinity, where the Eternal Wisdom willed to be hidden and to be adored by angels and by men! Hail, O Queen of Heaven and earth, to whose empire everything is subject which is under God. Hail, O sure refuge of sinners, whose mercy fails no one. Hear the desires which I have of the Divine Wisdom; and for that end receive the vows and offerings which in my lowliness I present to thee.

I, Michael John Portelli, a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in thy hands the vows of my Baptism; I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works; and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before. In the presence of all the heavenly court I choose thee this day for my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future; leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God in time and in eternity.

Receive, O benignant Virgin, this little offering of my slavery, in honor of, and in union with, that subjection which the Eternal Wisdom deigned to have to thy maternity; in homage to the power which both of you have over this poor sinner, and in thanksgiving for the privileges with which the Holy Trinity has favored thee. I declare that I wish henceforth, as thy true slave, to seek thy honor and to obey thee in all things.

O admirable Mother, present me to thy dear Son as His eternal slave, so that as He has redeemed me by thee, by thee He may receive me! O Mother of mercy, grant me the grace to obtain the true Wisdom of God; and for that end receive me among those whom thou lovest and teachest, whom thou leadest, nourishest and protectest as thy children and thy slaves.

O faithful Virgin, make me in all things so perfect a disciple, imitator and slave of the Incarnate Wisdom, Jesus Christ thy Son, that I may attain, by thine intercession and by thine example, to the fullness of His age on earth and of His glory in Heaven. Amen.

Act of Consecration to JMJ - IAM

A

Holy Spirit, I invite you to come into Isaac’s heart, mind, body and soul. I ask you Holy Spirit to anoint him with Divine Grace. Bless him, purify him, sanctify him and make him holy. Spirit of the Living God consume all of Isaacs’ darkness and fill him with the Light of Christ. Transform my dear son completely into a living reflection of the Lord Jesus Christ.I offer to you, Lord Jesus, all that Isaac is and all that he has. I offer and consecrate to you his heart, mind, body and soul. Transform him into yourself. Help him, Lord Jesus to become a living reflection of you and I pray that he may be filled with Divine Grace all the days of his life.I offer to you, Lord Jesus Isaac’s eyes and his sense of sight. Help him to not look at outward appearances but to see the world around him as you do. Help Isaac to be open to see the action of the Most Holy Trinity in every moment of his life and give him spiritual vision to discover the will of your Father in heaven in all situations and circumstances.I offer to you, Lord Jesus , Isaac’s ears and his sense of hearing. Help him, Lord Jesus, to hear the sound of Spirit’s voice in everything that takes place in his life. Inspire him to not hear but to listen, to listen to the voice of Wisdom in everything that he hears throughout his day. Transform Isaacs’ ability to hear you, Lord God reaching out to him in every moment.I offer to you, Lord Jesus , Isaac’s nose and his sense of smell. Help him always to appreciate the beauty of the world around him by allowing his sense of smell to look beyond what he sees and hears. Grant Isaac the grace to not be curious about things that do not concern him. Help him to use his sense of smell to discover the will of Your Father, in the present moment. I offer to you Lord Jesus , Isaac’s mouth and his sense of taste. I pray that he may be temperate in eating and never over indulge in food or drink. Lord Jesus, anoint his tongue so that every word that comes out of his mouth is in accordance with your Most Holy Will. Transform Isaac’s speech so that all his words may be a reflection of your infinite Love and as the Holy Trinity creates with His voice, may he unite with you in re-creating the world around him by all that he says. Finally, I offer to you Lord Jesus Isaac’s hands and his sense of touch. Help him to appreciate that everything he comes in physical contact with during his day is a gift from your hands and help him to physically treat the world around him, especially other human beings, as he would treat you Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Grant Isaac an abundance of divine grace, Lord Jesus Christ, to only use his hands to serve you and to bring Your love to every person that he meets during this day.I ask all this through the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the most chaste heart of St Joseph and by the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Amen Soul of Christ, santify Isaac. Body of Christ, save Isaac. Blood of Christ, inebriate Isaac. Water from the side of Christ, wash Isaac. Passion of Christ, strengthen Isaac. O good Jesus, hear Isaac. Within your wounds, hide Isaac. Never let him be separated from you. From the malignant enemy, defend Isaac. At the hour of his death, call Isaac; and bid him come to thee. So that with thy saints he may praise thee forever and ever. Amen

“Of the Corruption of Nature and the Efficacy of Divine GraceO Lord my God, who hast created me after thine own image and similitude, grant me this grace, which Thou hast shown to be so great and so necessary for salvation, that I may conquer my wicked nature, which draweth me to sin and to perdition. For I feel in my flesh the law of sin, contradicting the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the obedience of sensuality in many things; nor can I resist its passions, unless Thy most holy grace assist me, fervently poured into my heart.2. There is need of Thy grace, yea, and of a great measure thereof, that my nature may be conquered, which hath alway been prone to evil from my youth. For being fallen through the first man Adam, and corrupted through sin, the punishment of this stain descended upon all men; so that Nature itself, which was framed good and right by Thee, is now used to express the vice and infirmity of corrupted Nature; because its motion left unto itself draweth men away to evil and to lower things.

Hail, Mary, Daughter of God the Father; Hail, Mary, Mother of God the Son; Hail, Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit; Hail, Mary, Temple of the most Holy Trinity;Hail, Mary, my Mistress, my treasure, my joy, Queen of my heart; my Mother, my life, my sweetness, my dearest hope —- yea, my heart and my soul!I am all thine and all that I have is Thine, O Virgin blessed above all things! Let thy soul be in me to magnify the Lord; let thy spirit be in me to rejoice in God my Savior.Set thyself, O faithful Virgin, as a seal upon my heart, that in thee and through thee I may be found faithful to God.Receive me, O gracious Virgin, among those whom thou love and teach, whom thou lead, nourish and protect as thy children and thy slaves.Grant that for love of thee I may despise all earthly consolations and ever cling to those of Heaven until, through thee, His faithful spouse, Jesus Christ thy Son be formed in me for the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Behold, O Mother of Perpetual Help, at thy feet a wretched sinner, who has recourse to thee and trusts in thee. O Mother of mercy, have pity on me; I hear all men call thee the refuge and hope of sinners: be therefore my refuge and my hope. Help me for the love of Jesus Christ: hold out thy hand to a fallen wretch, who commends himself to thee and dedicates himself to be thy servant forever.

Examination of Conscience

Most merciful God,
Father in heaven,
relying on Thy goodness and mercy,
I come to Thee with filial confidence
to confess my sins and to implore Thy forgiveness.
Thou wilt not despise a contrite and humble heart.
Bless me and receive me again into Thy favour;
I acknowledge that I have been most ungrateful to Thee,
but I sincerely repent and detest the wrong I have done,
and I desire henceforth to walk in the way of perfection
in accordance with Thy holy will.

O Jesus, my Saviour, my good Shepherd,
I have strayed far from the path
that Thou hast marked out for me;
I did not follow in Thy footsteps;
I wandered into forbidden places.
Repentant and sorrowful,
I beg to be admitted again into the fold of Thy faithful
followers.
I want to confess my sins with the same sincerity
as I should wish to do at the moment of my death.
My Jesus, I look to Thee with confidence
for the grace to examine my conscience well.

O Holy Spirit come in Thy mercy;
enlighten my mind and strengthen my will
that I may know my sins,
humbly confess them,
and sincerely amend my life.

Mary, my Mother,
immaculate Spouse of the Holy Ghost,
refuge of sinners,
Assist me by thy intercession.

Holy angels and saints of God,
pray for me
Amen.

Mental Prayer - God the Father

A

Thank You, Father in heaven, for the blessings and graces You have give me this day. Once more I entreat Your continuing protection. Conscious of my own weakness and frailty, of my many faults, I entrust myself to Your loving care.I entrust to Your protection, loving Father, those dear to me, my relatives, friends, and all those living and dead, who have done good for me and mine by Your holy inspiration. Be pleased, Eternal Father, to keep in Your care Your Church, the Holy Father, and all who serve You religiously. Please assist also all civil officials to exercise authority justly, and to direct all our people according to Your will.In Your loving and tender mercy, Lord and Father, assist especially those who are poor and deprived, those who suffer, and all who are without hope in this life unless You come to their aid. It is You alone Who can bring great good out of the worst evils by Your unbounded power. So we trust You to curb the malice of the wicked, to convert sinners, and bring us all to a knowledge of Your love. These favors we beg in the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who reigns forever with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, through all ages. Amen.

Mental Prayer - God the Son

A

Lord Jesus, I come before Thee, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Thy Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give Thee my entire self, Lord Jesus, I accept Thee as my Lord God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit.Come Lord Jesus, cover me with Thy Precious Blood, and fill me with Thy Holy Spirit, I love Thee Lord Jesus, I praise Thee Lord Jesus, I thank Thee Jesus, I shall follow Thee every day of my life. Amen.Dear Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd of the lambs of God, I need you to come to me today and make me lie down in pastures of green grace, for I have a restless, wandering heart. I need the quieting waters of the gospel for my ambivalent soul—presently the home to many conflicting emotions. I need the kind of refreshment that cannot be found in changed circumstances, only in a compassionate Christ.Because of you, Jesus, I don’t lack anything essential. As the Lamb of God, you took away my sin forever, and now I’m “dressed in your righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.” As the Lord of Lords, you are currently working in all things for my good and your glory. You rule the whole world with your truth and grace. As the Lamp of the New City (Rev. 21:23), you have secured my place in coming world of eternal delights—the new heaven and new earth. I believe this good news with every fiber of my being. But…But right now, Jesus, I need you to help me sort through my feelings. I need you to help me steward my emotions in line with the truth of the gospel.I feel sad. Change is never very easy for me, and I am going through some pretty major changes—changes connected to loss. One day you will wipe away every one of my tears, come and dab just a few of them today. May my lamenting lead me heavenward to worship and hope, not inward to isolation and contempt.I feel confused. I don’t like second guessing anything, so you know how much I hate third and forth guessing. Speak through all my conflicting thoughts, Jesus. You know my voice and call me by name. I know your name and want to hear your voice more distinctly than any other voice.I feel angry… not angry at someone(s) in particular, but about many things in general. I don’t do anger well, Jesus, so really shepherd my anger. I usually stuff it deep—into a dark cellar where it grows like mold. I don’t want old hurts to barrel into the present situation, making it hard to stay engaged, gentle and kind. I’m certain I want to honor you more than I want to feel vindicated.I feel loved. If I wasn’t certain of your love for me, Jesus, I would surely resort to unhealthy, even destructive choices. I’d already have a one-way ticket purchased to Tarshish (Jonah 1). But you’ve taught me well that “those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs” (Jonah 2:8 NIV). I don’t want to be swallowed by something big just to be brought back to gospel sanity, yet again. So shepherd me now, Jesus, to your glory and my growth. So very Amen I pray, in your tender and tenacious name.

Teach me to know and to seek God, by whom and for whom I was created. Fill my heart with a holy fear and a great love for Him. Give me compunction and patience, and do not let me fall into sin. Increase faith, hope and charity in me and bring forth in me all the virtues proper to my state of life. Help me to grow in the four cardinal virtues, Your seven gifts and Your twelve fruits. Make me a faithful follower of Jesus, an obedient child of the Church and a help to my neighbor. Give me the grace to keep the commandments and to receive the sacraments worthily. Raise me to holinessin the state of life to which You have called me, and lead me through a happy death to everlasting life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.Grant me also, O Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, the special favor for which I ask {name special petition}, if it be for Your honor and glory and for my well being. Bounteous bestower of most precious gifts, grant me a strong and living faith which makes me accept all revealed truths and shape my conduct in accord with them. Give me a most confident hope in all divine promises which prompts me to abandon myself unreservedly to you and your guidance. Infuse into me a love of perfect goodwill, and act according to God’s least desires. God of the Dreaming. Father of all the custodians of this great land, Australia. You have lived among us since time immemorial. We have always known You. You gave this land to the many nations around Australia. You have not dispossessed them nor destroyed them. People from other lands, who do not understand their unique culture, unique lifestyle and unique heritage have come and destroyed much of their way of life. Many of these people from other lands now want to understand and reconcile with the original owners of this land.. But for many of these people, this reconciliation business is a little difficult. Too many of their children are still in jails.Too many of their children are still living in sub-standard housing. Too many of their mothers are living on the streets or in refuges. Too many of their children are still uneducated. Too many of their children have no land and no community to go back to. Too many of their children have not got good opportunities for good employment. Too many of their children are living in extremely unhealthy environments. Too many of their children are living among violence and abuse. Too many of their children are dying to drugs and other soul-destroying substances.God of the Dreaming and Creator of all, we sometimes feel overwhelmed by these things. Many of the people from these nations, feel like they are refugees in their own land. Today I cry out to You for mercy and justice for all of their children, for their families and for their land. I pray that more resources will be given to their local community organizations to help them grow healthy and strong. I pray that the peoples from other lands, including my own, will be given a heart of flesh instead of a heart of stone so that they can understand their spirituality and the importance of the land in their culture, life and identity. May great people here in Australia rise up so as to be able to support them properly. I pray that the great Spirit will help and encourage all of the people from the many nations around Australia, to grow good strong leaders from among their own. Father i pray that the original custodians of this land will grow strong and healthy again in their own land. I pray that they may take their rightful place in this great land and make their contribution to the re-building of our families, our communities and our nation. May you Lord God heal the wounds of the past and rise up in this great nation, people from many of these nations who rediscover the beauty of their spirituality and desire to spread that spirituality throughout Australia. I implore you Lord to heal every child that was stolen from their families, so many years ago. Help them to forgive those responsible for this great atrocity in our nation. May the Holy Spirit bestow on each and every original Australian, his love and peace so that all Aboriginals, who were once seen as part of the flora and fauna of this great nation of Australia, may become all that Almighty God intends for them to be - sons and daughters of the Most High Please hear my cries for justice. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ and through the intercession of Australias first Saint, St Mary Mackillop of the cross and Little Mother Eileen O’Connor. Amen.

Mental Prayer - Yahweh

A

You shall love Yahweh with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you today shall be upon your heart. You shall teach them thoroughly to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes. And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates. And it will be, if you will diligently obey My commandments which I enjoin upon you this day, to love Yahweh and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, I will give rain for your land at the proper time, the early rain and the late rain, and you will gather in your grain, your wine and your oil. And I will give grass in your fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be sated. Take care lest your heart be lured away, and you turn astray and worship alien gods and bow down to them. For then Yahwehs wrath will flare up against you, and He will close the heavens so that there will be no rain and the earth will not yield its produce, and you will swiftly perish from the good land which Yahweh gives you. Therefore, place these words of Mine upon your heart and upon your soul, and bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, to speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you rise. And you shall inscribe them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates - so that your days and the days of your children may be prolonged on the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give to them for as long as the heavens are above the earth.Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to the children of Israel and tell them to make for themselves fringes on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to attach a thread of blue on the fringe of each corner. They shall be to you as tzizit, and you shall look upon them and remember all the commandments of the Lord and fulfill them, and you will not follow after your heart and after your eyes by which you go astray - so that you may remember and fulfill all My commandments and be holy to your God. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I, the Lord, am your God.Blessed are You, Lord our God and God of our fathers, God of Abraham, God of Isaac and God of Jacob, the great, mighty and awesome God, exalted God, who bestows bountiful kindness, who creates all things, who remembers the piety of the Patriarchs, and who, in love, brings a redeemer to their children’s children, for the sake of His Name.

Mental Prayer - Holy Trinity

A

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee who are dwelling by Thy grace within my soul.O Most Holy Trinity, who art dwelling by Thy grace within my soul, make me love Thee more and more. O Most Holy Trinity, who art dwelling by Thy grace within my soul, sanctify me more and more.Abide with me, O Lord; be Thou my true joy.In order that I may be a living act of perfect love, I offer myself as a whole burnt offering to Thy tender love, beseeching Thee to consume me continually, letting my soul overflow with the floods of infinite tenderness that are found in Thee, that so I may become a martyr of Thy love, O God! Let this martyrdom make me ready to appear before Thee and at last cause me to expire; let my soul cast itself without delay into the everlasting arms of Thy merciful love. With every beat of my heart I desire, O my dearly Beloved, to renew this offering an infinite number of times, until that day when the shadows shall vanish and I shall be able to retell my love in eternal union with Thee! With our whole heart and voice we glorify Thee, we praise Thee, we bless Thee, God the Father unbegotten, the only-begotten Son, the Holy Ghost, the Paraclete, the holy and undivided Trinity. For Thou art great, and dost wonderful things: Thou alone art God. To Thee be praise, to Thee glory, to Thee thanksgiving forever and ever, O blessed Trinity! O Lord, our God, we believe in Thee, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. As far as I have been able, as much as Thou hast given me the power to do so, I have sought for Thee. I have desired to see that in which I believe; much have I striven and labored.Lord, my God, my only hope, let me never tire of seeking Thee, but make me seek Thy face with constant ardor. Give me the strength to seek after Thee–Thou who hast made me find Thee, who hast given me more and more the hope of finding Thee. Thou seest my strength and my weakness; do Thou sustain the one and heal the other; Thou seest my strength and my ignorance. Where Thou hast opened to me, come make me welcome; where Thou hast closed to me, open to my plea. Give me to remember, understand, and love Thee.

Prayer to the Divine MercyO Lord, behold here before You a soul who exists in this world in order to allow You to exercise Your admirable MERCY and manifest it before heaven and earth. Others may glorify You through their faithfulness and perseverance, thus making evident the power of Your grace. How sweet and generous You are to those who are faithful to You!Nevertheless, I will glorify You by acquainting others of Your goodness to sinners and by reminding them that Your MERCY is above all malice, that nothing can exhaust it, and that no relapse, no matter how shameful or criminal, should allow the sinner to despair of forgiveness.I have offended You grievously, O Beloved Redeemer, but it would be still worse if I were to offend You by thinking that You were lacking in goodness to forgive me. I would rather He deprive me of everything else than the TRUST I have in Your Mercy.Should I fall a hundred times or should my crimes be a hundred times worse that they actually are, I would continue to trust in Your MERCY. O Lord Jesus Christ, Mirror of abstinence, to teach me the value in denying myself food, you fasted for forty days and forty nights. Grant that, serving Thee and not my own appetite, I may be given the grace of Holy Temperance and may live soberly and piously without greed or gluttony. Scripture says that, man does not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God. Grant O Lord that I may be moderate in eating and drinking to ensure that my life is always sustained by God through prayer and Scripture and not on temporal satisfaction. Lord Jesus, your food was to do the will of your Father in heaven. Grant me the grace to always accomplish God’s will in my life by seeking solace in God through prayer rather than by overindulging in food or drink. Most Holy Mother of God, you proclaimed that God fills the hungry with good things. Please pray that I may hunger and thirst for justice in our world with the coming of the kingdom of God in our midst today. May your Son Jesus truly be the bread from heaven who nourishes & sustains me on my journey here on earth & may the Eucharistic Lord be food that brings me to everlasting life. Amen.

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thine altar. We are Thine, and Thine we wish to be; but, to be more surely united with Thee, behold we freely consecrate ourselves today to Thy most Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known Thee; many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy sacred Heart. Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee; grant that they may quickly return to Thy Father’s house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that there may be but one flock and one Shepherd. Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry, and refuse not to draw them into the light and kingdom of God. Turn Thine eyes of mercy towards the children of the race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Saviour; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: “Praise be to the divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to it be glory and honor for ever.” Amen. ACT OF PRIVATE CONSECRATIONI give myself and consecrate to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, my person and my life, my actions, pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being other than to honour, love and glorify the Sacred Heart. This is my unchanging purpose, namely, to be all His, and to do all things for the love of Him, at the same time renouncing with all my heart whatever is displeasing to Him.I therefore take You, O Sacred heart, to be the only object of my love, the guardian of my life, my assurance of salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for all the faults of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of death.Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before God the Father, and turn away from me the strokes of his righteous anger. O Heart of love, I put all my confidence in You, for I fear everything from my own wickedness and frailty, but I hope for all things from Your goodness and bounty. Remove from me all that can displease You or resist Your holy will; let your pure love imprint Your image so deeply upon my heart, that I shall never be able to forget You or to be separated from You.May I obtain from all Your loving kindness the grace of having my name written in Your Heart, for in You I desire to place all my happiness and glory, living and dying in bondage to You forever and ever. 20.30 - DPR90Mental Prayer - Blessed Virgin Mary (Imitation of Mary)

A

O Mary, recall the solemn moment when Jesus, your divine Son, dying on the Cross, confided us to your maternal care. You are our Mother, we desire ever to remain your devout children. Let us therefore feel the effects of your powerful intercession with Jesus Christ. make your Name again glorious in the shrine once renowned throughout England by your visits, favours, and many miracles. Pray, O holy Mother of God, for the conversion of England, restoration of the sick, consolation for the afflicted, repentance of sinners, peace to the departed. O blessed Mary, Mother of God, our Lady of Walsingham, intercede for us.O Mother of God, Immaculate Mary, to thee do I dedicate my body and soul, all my prayers and deeds, my joys and sufferings, all that I am and all that I have. With a joyful heart I surrender myself to thy love. To thee will I devote my services of my own free will for the salvation of mankind, and for the help of the Holy Church whose Mother thou art. From now on my only desire is to do all things with thee, through thee, and for thee. I know I can accomplish nothing by my own strength, whereas thou can do everything that is the will of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Thou are always victorious. Grant, therefore, O Helper of the Faithful, that my family, my parish, and my country might become in truth the Kingdom where thou reignest in the glorious presence God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Queen of the most holy Rosary, you were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message. We implore you, inspire in our hearts a fervent love for the recitation of the Rosary. By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption that are recalled therein may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask, through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Dear Mother, we love you. We thank you for your promise to help us in our need. We trust in your love that dries our tears and comforts us. Teach us to find our peace in your Son, Jesus, and bless us every day of our lives. Help us to build a shrine in our hearts. Make it as beautiful as the one built for you on the Mount of Tepeyac. A shrine full of trust, hope, and love of Jesus growing stronger each day. Mary, you have chosen to remain with us by giving us your most wonderful and holy self-image on Juan Diego’s cloak. May we feel your loving presence as we look upon your face. Like Juan, give us the courage to bring your message of hope to everyone. You are our Mother and our inspiration. Hear our prayers and answer us. Blessed, most pure Virgin, you chose to manifest yourself shining with life, sweetness and beauty, in the Grotto of Lourdes. To the child, St. Bernadette, you revealed yourself, “I am the Immaculate Conception”

II. —- St. Joseph, guardian angel of Mary.Secondly, Joseph was chosen from all eternity to be the visible guardian angel of the virginity of Our Lady. Must not, then, his soul have been armed with every virtue, and fortified by every assistance necessary for such a noble and admirable office? Consider what manner of man Joseph is! The angels and Saints are only the servants of the glorious Virgin, while he is her guardian angel and her spouse. This title, to which we now only allude in passing, is far beyond the comprehension of our feeble intelligence; for, husband and wife being of one heart and one soul, what must be the sovereign dignity of a man who, so to speak, is one with the most holy Mother of the living God!St. Bernardin of Siena has boldly grasped this thought. He says that as the virginal marriage of Mary and Joseph consisted in the union of their wills, the friendship of their hearts, and the love of their souls increased to such a degree that there never were two hearts more completely identified, two souls more dissolved into one, and he adds that the Holy Spirit would never have formed this union without rendering the husband perfectly similar to the wife. (1) It was beseeming that the likeness of these two suns should be so striking, that it would be difficult to distinguish one from the other. On one hand, the holiness of Our Lady outshines the holiness of all creatures; on the other hand, the holiness of Joseph is entirely alike the holiness of Mary. Later on, we shall treat this subject more at length.

A

Most merciful God, Father in heaven, relying on Thy goodness and mercy, I come to Thee with filial confidence to confess my sins and to implore Thy forgiveness. Thou wilt not despise a contrite and humble heart. Bless me and receive me again into Thy favour; I acknowledge that I have been most ungrateful to Thee, but I sincerely repent and detest the wrong I have done, and I desire henceforth to walk in the way of perfection in accordance with Thy holy will. O Jesus, my Saviour, my good Shepherd, I have strayed far from the path that Thou hast marked out for me; I did not follow in Thy footsteps; I wandered into forbidden places. Repentant and sorrowful, I beg to be admitted again into the fold of Thy faithful followers. I want to confess my sins with the same sincerity as I should wish to do at the moment of my death. My Jesus, I look to Thee with confidence for the grace to examine my conscience continuosly, distrusting myself completely, and keeping a strict watch and guard over my thoughts.O Holy Spirit come in Thy mercy; enlighten my mind and strengthen my will that I may know my sins, immediately when I commit them and humbly confess them, so that from one moment to the next I carry no guilt of sins committed. Mary, my Mother, Immaculate Spouse of the Holy Ghost, refuge of sinners, assist me by thy intercession. Holy angels and saints of God, pray for me. Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon me and receive my heartfelt gratitude in this time of giving thanks. Thank you for all the graces and blessings You have bestowed upon me today, both spiritual and temporal: Thank you for food and shelter, thank you for my health, my heart, my mind, body and soul, my beloved wife Agnes, my beautiful son Isaac, my vocation, my students, my life and all the graces that you have given me up to this present moment. Almighty God, I thank you for the abundant graces that you have granted me in my spiritual life. I thank you for the gift of faith, hope and love and for all the spiritual graces you have granted to my soul. Heavenly Father, from the depths of my heart and soul and in union with all the Angels and Saints in Heaven, I praise you and thank you for creating me from nothing and giving me the wonderful opportunity to share in your Divine Plan for humanity. Help me never to forget that you, my Lord and my God, are the Great I Am, and standing before you Lord Jesus, I am an abyss of misery, darkness and sin. I immerse myself into the depths of my nothingness and from the abyss of my misery I cry out to your mercy. From the depths of my heart I thank you for your infinite mercy and shall praise and glorify your mercy for ever and ever. Even if my sins were darker than darkness itself, I would still trust in your mercy because your mercy is without end. Lord Jesus Christ, I am so sorry for any way that I have offended you in this day. I ask you for forgiveness for the sins I have committed in thought, word or deed. Please cleanse me and purify me of all sin so that I may be a pleasing offering to you. I am truly sorry Lord Jesus for allowing my human nature to rise throughout this day and to react and respond to others in a selfish way. I ask you for forgiveness for giving my heart over to the vain things of this world. For allowing myself, even for a moment, to become engrossed in the things of this world, rather than living my life completely and absolutely in union with you. Help me dear Jesus to live completely dead to my broken human nature. Grant me the grace to live completely crucified to the world and with the world completely crucified to me. May I control my eyes from the vain things of this world, and when necessary to lower my gaze or close my eyes in prayer.I beg pardon Lord Jesus for those times throughout this day when I have acted out of pride, envy, lust, greed, gluttony, anger and sloth. Please forgive me Lord for all those times during this day that I have overreacted and hurt others with my words. Especially for times when I have not been patient with those around me. I am sorry Jesus for getting annoyed at the words and actions of those around me. Help me to distrust myself completely, to die to myself and to see that I am always called in every moment to live dead to the world.Help me Jesus to truly believe that I am called to act in this world as if I am already in my coffin. Whenever I allow myself to be disturbed in anyway, I am allowing my miserable self to be victorious over my spiritual nature and I fall into sin. Help me to see that without union with you in my heart and soul, I am extremely vulnerable and am weaker than weakness itself. Help me Lord Jesus to be filled with Divine Grace and in union with Mary & Joseph to give glory to you in life, in death and during my eternity. I am sincerely sorry Lord for not being perfect, for you yourself have said “be perfect as my Heavenly Father is perfect”. Have mercy on me O God for I have sinned. Cleanse my heart & soul & transform me into a living image of yourself in this world. O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. I wish dear Lord Jesus, to embrace all the crosses that you bestow upon me as wonderful graces in reparation for all of my sins. Purify me, cleanse me, consume my darkness and fill me with your light. I resolve to live my life in perfect submission to the Holy Will of God. There is only one thing necessary and that is to be united with God at all times, in all situations and in all circumstances, by being faithful to my regime from one resolution to the next.I resolve to remain faithful to prayer continuously and to live in this world with no greater desire than to accomplish God’s will in my life. I must NOT go to sleep before completing each and every resolution I have made on my regime, whether in full, if I am in solitude, or with a conscious awareness of the resolution if I am in the world I am completely convinced that it is God’s will for me to be perfectly united to Him in my heart and soul. I resolve Lord Jesus to use the gift of tongues, and to recite ALL prayers on my regime, interceding for the salvation and conversion of every soul Living on the face of the earth.I must continuously throughout the day recite prayers from my regime and as often as I can - on my knees, with my eyes closed, and my arms outstretched - praying for souls wherever I am or whomever I am with. I must persevere in praying for the conversion of souls all over the world, from every country, religion and all souls within the Catholic Church. When in the presence of human beings or during any external activity, like teaching in class or spending time with my family, I must vigorously lift up my soul to God through prayers in tongues, or by reciting ejaculatory prayers from my regime. I must do violence to my soul, no matter how painful it is. But above all I must look to the final end of my life - union with God! I must either fight for union with God in my soul, or die. There is no other option, as the kingdom of God in my soul truly does suffer violence and I must be violent to my human nature which opposes the establishment of God’s kingdom in my soul. My violence must be a spiritual violence to myself fighting until I am once again in possession of Gods kingdom.RESPICE FINEM! RESPICE FINEM! RESPICE FINEM! Lord God, grant me the grace to not be afraid to cling to my rosary beads while reciting prayers from my Regime and may I see this as perfectly fulfilling the vow of Most Holy Cleaving to God. While teaching I must seek interior union with God with all the strength of my heart and soul praying fervently for every student in the class, while remaining faithful to my regime through EJACULATORY prayer. I desire to be Eucharist before my students and in moments when they are disruptive I resolve to stop and be present before my students as Jesus is present before me in the Blessed Sacrament. I must always seek to love God and those around me by seeking interior union with The Lord in the presence of other human beings. Finally, I resolve to be completely submissive to my beloved Spouse Agnes in regards to my exterior life. May I humble myself before my wife, in the same way Jesus humbled himself before Mary and Joseph and was completely obedient to them. May almighty God bless these resolutions and grant me the grace to remain committed to them each and every day of my life.Lord Jesus I offer you every moment of my day tomorrow with every beat of my heart and with every breath I take. I offer up all that I am and have and ask you Lord to be ever present in my soul throughout the entire day. May your holy Will always and everywhere be accomplished in my life. Please accept the offering I make of every beat of my heart and every breath I take, for the salvation of souls, for the conversion of sinners, for my sanctification, the sanctification of my wife, my son, and for the Sanctification of the Society of Jesus, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the Sisters of St Joseph and of the Universal Church. Praise be to Jesus, Mary and Joseph both now and throughout all of eternity. As I go to sleep tonight, may you send your Angels to be at my side, to pray for me, to pray with me and to protect my heart, mind, body and soul. May the Angels of God wake me in the morning to live another day offering up my life for the greater Glory of God. Our Father

May my only desire be not only to do good in this world, but to always seek that which is for the greater glory of God - a complete death to self and perfect union with the Most Holy Trinity. There is much that I can do in this world which constantly presents itself to me as a good or holy act, but I believe that you, Almighty God are calling me to seek that which gives even greater glory to you. I ask you Lord God to bestow upon me the grace to cling to my regime and the prayers contained therein, seeking to please you and to please you alone. May my life be a pleasing fragrance to you Lord God and may my desire for the Magis be reflected in all my thoughts, words and actions and prayers.May I make the ultimate sacrifice of Love by dying to myself and becoming perfectly like you Dear God in the blessed Sacrament - my heart, mind body and soul, transformed into a living host in the world. May I seek to be present in the world by being dead and crucified with Jesus on the cross. My Magis is a complete death to myself in all of my actions and operations in this world, so that God may truly act through me as the Great I Am! Immersed in God, my nothingness becomes a means for God to act in this world.May every beat of my heart and every breath that I take be for the greater glory of God and for the salvation of souls - now and for all eternity. Come Holy Spirit, fill my heart and my soul with your Most Holy Presence. Fill me with an enduring love. Bring to perfection in me the image and likeness of St Joseph. Remind me of all that St Joseph said and did. Instruct me in everything. Your words O Lord are Spirit and Life. You are the Word of eternal life. Make me Holy in the truth. I pray that you may enlighten my mind and give me a new heart and a new spirit. Grant me perseverance and determination to always remain committed to this process of being filled with the Spirit and Soul of the Blessed St Joseph and to not be afraid of suffering, the cross and death. Help me O Lord to live my life with the interior disposition of seeing that the final end of my interior life is death and that my calling is to live every moment of my interior life in my coffin, dead to the world and fully alive to God.Please grant me the grace to embrace this disposition firstly at home, by loving my wife as Christ loved the Church, by loving Agnes unconditionally as St Joseph loved the Blessed Virgin Mary and sacrificing myself for her as a slave would for its master. May I also love Isaac as St Joseph loved his beloved son Jesus, worshiping the presence of Almighty God in his son, the fruit of Mary’s womb. My priority in life is to serve my family by giving my life as a ransom for my spouse and for my son.Lord, I beg you to crucify my will and grant me the grace to die completely to myself. May I live completely for you Jesus by seeking the will of your Father St Joseph in all that I do and by abasing myself before human beings by serving them as their servant and their slave.Lord Jesus, my desire is for my soul to live completely dead to the world, imitating you in the Holy Eucharist, silent and hidden in tabernacles throughout the world. I promise to continuously serve you in spirit by constant prayer and as I go to sleep I offer up every beat of my heart and every breath I take throughout this night, for the salvation of souls, the conversion of sinners and for the sanctification of the Society of Jesus, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the Sisters of St Joseph and of the Universal Church.Mary my mother, please pray for me so that I can truly die to the things of this world. Pray Mother of the Most High God that I may love, Honour and embrace you dear Mary, by loving, honouring and embracing my beloved Spouse, Agnes. Help me St Joseph to be filled with your soul and spirit and to become a living image of you on this earth. Dear Father Joseph, may I see union with my Lord and my God as the only ONE thing necessary in accomplishing God’s will in my life while serving humanity and abasing myself before every living creature on earth. Finally, I ask you Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, to grant me and my wife Agnes, the grace to accomplish perfectly your will in our lives. Your first Commandment to Adam and Eve was for their Holy Espousal to be fruitful and to fill the earth and to subdue it. May our Holy Espousal bring forth an abundance of fruit, so that an innumerable amount of souls may give you great glory on earth, and in union with Jesus Christ may we constantly pray, “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be Done, on earth as it is in heaven.”I ask all this through the same Christ Our Lord, Amen.

23.05 - DPR106Abandonment to Divine Providence” Prayer & CHAPLET

A

Oh my God when will it please You to give me the grace to remain habitually in this union of my will with Your adorable will, in which, without uttering a word all is said, in which all is accomplished by allowing You to act, in which one’s only occupation is that of conforming more and more entirely to Your good pleasure; in which, nevertheless, one is saved all trouble since the care of all things is confided to You, and to repose in You is the only desire of one’s heart? Delightful state, which, even in the absence of all sensible faith, affords the soul an interior joy altogether spiritual. I desire to repeat without ceasing by this habitual disposition of my heart, “Fiat,” yes, my God, yes, all that You please, may Your holy will be done in all things. I renounce my own will which is very blind, perverse, and corrupt in consequence of its wretched self-love, the mortal enemy of Your grace, of Your pure love, of Your glory, and of my own sanctification.Prayer to be said in temptation:Oh my God! preserve me by Your grace from all sin, but as for the pain by which my self-love is put to death, and the humiliations which crucify my pride, I accept them with all my heart; not so much because they are the effects of your justice, but as benefits of your great mercy. Have pity on me then, dear Saviour, and help me.Chaplet of Abandonment of Divine ProvidenceCreedOur battle is not against flesh and blood…Saint Francis de sales (x3)Without uttering a word all is said, and all is accomplished by allowing You to actTo repose in You is the only desire of my heart

23.10 - DPR108EUCHARISTIC CONSECRATION PRAYER

A

I, MICHAEL JOHN PORTELLI, consecrate my heart, mind, body and soul to the presence of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. I pray that I may Perfectly imitate the presence of God in this world, by becoming a living host. May people see me, no longer. May my presence bring the presence of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. May my mind be constantly impressed with the Eucharistic image and my call to become a living eucharist in this world. May I desire to be so crucified to the world that My interior disposition is to truly live in the world the way Jesus, Mary and Joseph live in the tabernacle - Silent, hidden, unknown, crushed and completely consumed by my nothingness so that the presence of Almighty God may reign in this world. It is the same Holy Family whose presence is so insignificant in the tabernacle, who reign as king and queen and Lord of heaven and earth. May my annihilation be inspired by the annihilation of God in the Holy Family, and the annihilation of the Divinity (Al-lah) in the blessed sacrament.

HOLY ESPOUSAL TO THE MOST HOLY TRINITYFather, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore thee profoundly and ask that you may come and consume the very depths of my being. I desire O God to be perfectly espoused to you for all eternity. I desire that you may take complete control of my heart, mind , body and soul. May you come and fill me O God, with the heart of St Joseph, the mind of Jesus and the spirit of Mary. From the depths of my nothingness I cry out to you and ask you to transform me into a perfect image of your Divinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit - the The great IAM and Al-lah ON EARTH.On the feast of the Annunciation, I recall how You sent the Archangel Gabriel to the Blessed Virgin Mary to announce your desire to take on human flesh through her. In virtue of my union with Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I ask the holy Archangel st Gabriel, to enter the Holy of holies in the heavenly chamber and to announce my desire that I may take on your divine nature upon the earth. I recognise that I am nothing in myself, but by virtue of your desire, most Holy Trinity to live among men, I plead with you for this grace on behalf of all humanity. May people no longer see me, but you O God. May my thoughts be your thoughts, my desires, be your desires, my actions be your actions, my words be your words and my will be your will. It’s no longer I that live, but God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit - Jesus, Mary and Joseph who live within me. I offer up my, life absolutely for the greater glory of God. May my existence in this world be a reflection of the existence of an All Powerful and All Merciful God who desires that all may come to an intimate union with him. I ask all this through the Sacred heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Most Chaste heart of St Joseph, present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Michael John Portelli25th March 2014Feast of the AnnunciationCHAPLET of Most Holy Espousal to the Blessed Trinity St Margaret Mary Alacoque260 The ultimate end of the whole divine economy is the entry of God’s creatures into the perfect unity of the Blessed Trinity.100 But even now we are called to be a dwelling for the Most Holy Trinity: “If a man loves me”, says the Lord, “he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him”:101O my God, holy Trinity whom I adore, help me forget myself entirely so to establish myself in you, unmovable and peaceful as if my soul were already in eternity. May nothing be able to trouble my peace or make me leave you, O my unchanging God, but may each minute bring me more deeply into your mystery! Grant my soul peace. Make it your heaven, your beloved dwelling and the place of your rest. May I never abandon you there, but may I be there, whole and entire, completely vigilant in my faith, entirely adoring, and wholly given over to your creative action.Act of Consecration to the Blessed TrinityWith all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all Angels and Saints in Paradise, Daughter of the Eternal Father, and I consecrate to Thee my soul with all its faculties.Say the Hail Mary…With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all Angels and Saints in Paradise, beloved Mother of the Son of God, and I consecrate to Thee my body with all its senses.
