When did Northwest almost close?
1988 - Department of Education under Gov. John Ashcroft proposed to close NW and designate Missouri Western as the only state school in Northwest Missouri. Hubbard wanted to differentiate between the two schools by launched a strategy emphasizing a culture of quality.
