What is MUST?
A
MUST is the malnutrition universal screening tool.
It is a five step screening tool to identify adults who are malnourished, at risk of malnutrition or obese.
Also includes management guidelines which can be used to develop a care plan.

Describe the 5 MUST steps
A
- Measure height and weight to get BMI
- Note percentage unplanned weight loss and score using tables provided
- Establish acute disease effect and score
- Add scores from step 1, step 2 and step 3 together to obtain overall risk of malnutrition
- Use management guidelines to develop a care plan

What is the normal BMI range?
A
18.5 - 24.9
Over 25 - 29.9 - you’re in the overweight range
Between 30-39.9 - you’re in the obese range

A
Weight (Kg) / Height (M) X Height (M)

A
