An abnormal environment in which obesity is the normal physiological response

What is the most important thing for type 1 DM in terms of diet and their insulin?
Matching CHO with insulin so dont get hypos and have good blood glucose levels
What causes gestational diabetes? What are some risk factors? How does it influence the later risk of type 2 DM?
Pregnancy hormones make more hyperglycaemia and insulin fails to compensate
Risk factors; prediabetes, family history, age and weight pre pregnancy, ethnicity

When should solids be introduced?
- Breastfeeding reduces chances of type 2 and obesity later
- solids after 6 months, if before can increase weight gain
What is the effect of a low calorie diet on type 2 DM?
Can reverse some of the effects- decreasing their insulin resistance and increasing their B cell function
