What is the difference between micronutrients and macronutrients?
Micronutrients are nutrients consumed in smaller amounts or milligrams, compared to macronutrients consumed in larger amounts in grams.
Examples of a macro and micro nutrient
Macro: Protein, fats, carbohydrates, fibre
Micro: Vitamins D, iodine, calcium
What are the four types of fat? Which is healthiest and which is unhealthiest?
Mono-unsaturated, poly unsaturated, saturated, trans fat.
Healthiest: Mono unsat
Unhealthiest: Trans
Fats
Function: Provides energy, improves immunity, and maintains hard tissue.

Function: Growth and maintenance of cells and provision of energy.

Carbohydrates
Function: Fuel for energy, glucose and fibre.

Function: Regulates digestive system and glucose levels.

Vitamin D
Function: Aids calcium with bone growth.

Calcium
Function: Hard tissue growth
Source: Milk, cheese
Iron
Function: Produces red blood cells and provides energy.

Vitamin A
Function: Improves immune system and helps healthy hard and soft tissue formation.

Vitamin C
Function: Growth and repair of body tissues and helps absorb iron.

Regulates the thyroid gland.
