Place patient in sternal recumbency
Ask assistant to hold patients head to facilitate bandaging
Wear gloves
Padding on either side of ear & folded up to top of head
Bandage (figure of 8)
Mark position of ear
Checks (tension, neat, airway not restricted,eyes not covered, unaffected ear exposed)
Remove & Dispose PPE in clinical waste
Checks to make on ear bandage
Tension Suitable
Neat (no padding showing)
Airway not restricted
Eyes not covered
Unaffected ear exposed
Forepaw Bandage
Place patient in correct lateral recumbency with affected limb uppermost
Ask assistant to support the affected limb
Wear gloves
Apply dressing correct way round & aseptically
Bandage to carpal joint
Check Tension
Handle gently
Dispose PPE Clinical waste
