What are neural crest cells?
A
Temporary group of cells from ECTODERM LAYER
give rise to melanocytes, craniofacial, cartilage, bone, smooth muscle, neurons & glia etc.

Why are zebrafish used as models?
A
Vertebrates Small Easy to raise Lots of migrating cells Embryos (grow alone, 1000s produced, fast development - swim after 24 hrs, genetically manipulateable, trasnparent).

What can happen as a result of migration defects?
A
Hirschsprungs (lack of migration - lack of neurone to colon, during development nc migration to large intestine not complete) - colon can’t relax and pass stools.

What is a stress fibre?
A
A contractile bundle of actin and myosin II in non muscle cells.
