Q
Strip Method
A
- Applied for sleder ship bodies
- requires the calculation of hydrodynamic mass, damping and wave forces on each section in regular waves
- Calculations are simplified by looking at the sections as infinite cylinders so that only a 2D flow has to be solved (x,z)
- Flow is considered to be frictionless and irrotational
- All non-linearity due to body motion or the wave field are neglected
- The motion of the ship section or of the incident (reflected waves) waves are considered to be harmonic
