NUL (Cultural and Heritage Quarters) Flashcards
Overview
Prerequisite for a cultural quarter is the presence of cultural production or consumptions (visiting venues and galleries)
Heritage quarters focus more on the history of the area based around small scale industries. Successful ones tend to be associated with a product eg Jewellery Quarter Birmingham
Pros
Build up a regional and in some cases national reputation which attracts visitors, tourists and brings financial benefits
Cons
Not all towns and cities need cultural quarters and in some areas have created higher property values
